The deer may look docile, but 2 things turn them into "wild animals", mating season and food.

@RedTop if it is just the does and young bucks, they seem to behave. If more mature bucks are around, then all bets are off.

@RedTop no truer words spoken. My husband went up into our woods to check the trough and found lots of blood on the ground and in the trough. We have a lot of big bucks come through which when the reindeer games are on, it's rough. Our trough is close enough yet far enough away to watch them.
