Yesterday I read an article about the guy that admitted that he makes and sell these all over the world.....yes, people actually buy them!

Why? In our current social media world, it's all about 'likes' and 'views' on their social media platforms.

I am unconcerned. It is funny that the monolith was smack dab in the middle of nowhere and yet Somebody found it. Everybody went to see it then it dissappeared. One little trail cam would have taken out all the mystery. It's a distraction.

Probably the beginning of some marketing campaign. Time will tell.

Reminds me of crop circles, in a way. But that mystery hasn't been solved 100% yet.

When another one of these monoliths are found, why can't somebody put a camera on it to watch how it disappears?

The one here in the US in the Utah desert that was dismantled had witnesses who watched several men dismantle and remove it in a wheelbarrow.

The men told the witnesses that they were unhappy with all of the visitors trampling and leaving trash and human waste in the area of the monolith.

Images emerged Tuesday of four men working in the dead of night to remove the strange, triangular pillar that has garnered global attention from its remote resting place in the western United States desert.

Photographer Ross Bernards, who visited the monolith Friday, described in an Instagram post accompanying the photos how four men suddenly appeared that night, pushed the object over and dismantled it before carrying it off in a wheelbarrow."

"One of them looked back at us all and said 'Leave no trace.' That was at 8:48," wrote Bernards.

Later Tuesday, a 34-year-old slackline performer and adventure sportsman called Andy Lewis posted a video on YouTube titled, "We removed the Utah monolith."

It featured near-identical images and a short clip of the monolith seemingly being wheeled away, but no further explanation was provided.

The shiny pillar, which protruded some 12 feet from the red rocks of southern Utah, was first spotted on November 18 by baffled local officials counting bighorn sheep from the air.

Funny you should mention them, because this just showed up overnight...

They know what happened to the ones in Utah and California - people have posted videos of them taking them down. I believe I read that the one in California wasn't secured as well as the one in Utah, so may mean it's a copycat or someone else setting them up (which follows what the poster above says about one person selling them - although, if true, one would wonder why there weren't more?) Also believe the one in Romania was a different texture.

After all the bad news this year, I'm okay with this little bit of fun distraction (as long as no one gets hurt and done responsibly - which I understand is why Utah was torn down). For those in the Chicagoland area, I compare this to last year's Chance the Snapper story.

Yes I get it. It is an ad campaign, the news media knows exactly what it is about and probably are in on it.

Sadly, it is what passes for "news" nowdays. We used to get information about the economy, world events, weather, car safety. . . Now we get puppies and monoliths.

These monliths are interesting and a nice diversion from all the hand-wringing about masks and social distancing. We get it.

Now my stupendous theory is that these monoliths are all about aliens.

Then I wondered what the thing was worth as scrap metal. That's why they stuck it in the desert. Wouldn't have lasted 5 minutes on the streets of NYC.
