topic Do your possessions affect your self-esteem? in Community Chat

Be honest. Does that designer handbag make you feel better about yourself? Or does the car you drive make you feel more important or "better" than someone who drives a less expensive model? I have to admit I used to allow myself to think that way - that was back before I grew up. Funny how getting older makes you realize how silly you once were. I still remember over 20 years ago standing by my mother's hospital bed when she was dying of cancer. I looked at myself in the mirror over the sink and it dawned on me that some things are just so meaningless. And I made a promise that I would never allow myself to worry about silly things again. Just saying ladies - I love my expensive handbags, etc. as much as anyone but I hope you don't put too much importance on such things. They are, after all, just things.
