Bought Great Exercise Bike! Great price, too!

I once vowed I would never again buy ANY indoor exercise equipment as they usually end up holding my clothes and collecting dust. LOL. Well, working from home, I am sitting all way too much.I find myself with 10 minutes here and there....so I decided to buy a stationary bike. I found a GREAT one on Amazon and it was only $130! The quality is exceptional and it required minimal assembly. It is sturdy and I am getting great exercise on it. In case anybody else is also looking to get some more exercise, I thought I would share this info with you. It is from Amazon and it is called the Xterra Fitness FB150 Folding Exercise Bike. Cheers!

@Goldengate8361, I just got one too! I've had mine for about 2 weeks and love it. I was going to purchase it from QVC; however, I got a good deal with free shipping from Walmart.

It does not take up hardly any space, it's rather fun to use, it's so quiet and I love the data it provides regarding how many miles, calories burned, time spent, etc.

I was like you, I also did not want any more exercise equipment as they took up just too much space and just was not getting used much. This unit is so easy to move to whatever room you want to be in.

I'm so happy too with my purchase! Enjoy yours too!!!

Good for you Goldengate 8361, you are to be congratulated for taking care of your body. Just be careful, don't do what so many others have done in the past. In the beginning people are excited and become religious about their exercising, but as time goes by it isn't all that exciting anymore and it becomes less and less.

So stick to it and watch how your body gets slimmer and you start to look better and better. Not to mention how great you will feel.

l'm having knee issues and really need to exercise. I can't do any long distance walking anymore. Does this hurt your knees?

@squeaks No, but my knees are in good shape. My legs are a little sore from the exercise. Cycling uses slightly different leg muscles than are used in brisk walking. I think it is important to adjust the seat at the right height in order to not put too much stress on your knees.

Glad you are enjoying your bike @Goldengate8361! I got the same one from Amazon. It's a great bike! Two years later and still working great. You are so right about seat height importance. I am 5'3" and have mine on the lowest setting and my knees do ok. I did get a padded cushion for extra comfort as all bikes make me achy after 20 minutes. Enjoy cycling...

@Goldengate8361 Like you have have vowed to never again get exercise equipment for the same reasons as you....however I'm intrigued with this bike. I went to check it out and added it to my list. I like that it folds up, a good price and looks sturdy too.

Maybe if I'm desperate over the winter I might take the plunge since the gym is now out.

It looks like an easy machine to use! I'm going to buy one too, but wondering if you all bought the 150 or the 350. They're basically the same but for about $20, you get a seat back to lean back on.

Looks like the ladies here seem to like this bike. If that were a type of bike I would think of using, I would pay the $20 for a back rest.

I have 2 recumbent bikes, my old ProForm, about 15+ years old. My new "luxury model" I'd a True Model ES900. Does everything but fill up my water jug during my longer rides.

Regular exercise bikes just were never my thing. Seats never felt comfortable and the riding positions just didn't suit me at all. If I were spending 10-15 minutes they might be ok. But a short rude for me is 45 minutes.

I have the F350 and love it. I got it because I needed to get more aerobic exercise, and it's helped a lot. I use it every day, and it still runs like new. (Yes I do miss a day here and there.) I bought it on Walmart's site in July 2019. It was $129.59 when I ordered it. It went on sale for $109.99 within 30 days after, so I contacted them and was credited the difference.

There are some differences between the two. The main ones are the seat back, side handles, and the holder for a remote control or phone that are on the F350. The Xterra website has all the specs. It appears mechanically they're the same. I think some people who can't lift their leg to knee height might have trouble getting on it, but a little stool would solve that problem.The user weight capacity for both is 225 lbs.

I hurt my knee several years ago and the PT had me on a stationary bike during rehab. Stationary biking is great for the knees.

You can find stationary bike exercise videos now and the instructor keeps you on pace and tells you when to increase tension etc. It's very motivational once you have been doing it for a while and aren't a beginner anymore.

Two rules for exercise equipment that have never failed me: 1. put it where you can see it and get on it easily, preferably within sight of a tv. 2. never drape or leave any clothing on the equipment. Once that happens you never use the thing again.

I have a really old clunky stationary bike that is pretty uncomfortable so took a look at this one. Reading reviews, one review concerned me if you don't mind clarifying this negative review @Goldengate8361.

Reviewer said that the seat is only screwed onto an external tube rather than sitting on a post that slides into an upright tube for security. She said she leaned back in the seat and she fell backwards when the seat came off. How is the seat affixed to the bike? Thanks.

As someone said, I'd like the recumbant type (leaned back seat option) with a comfortable, higher back. Not a teeny, short back, but one that is large and high. Easy to lean back while cycling.

I don't have one right now, but would purchase a folding type with the above requirements.

Here's a copy of the page for the seat assembly of the F150. The F350 seat is exactly the same. The seat is attached to a plate with 3 very thick screws. The plate is factory welded to a tube. That tube slides into another tube and fastened with the club knob. My seat is very sturdy. When I put it together nothing made me feel that it wouldn't support me. It's possible the reviewer didn't assemble it properly. A defect is also possible, maybe bad welding. It's also possible the reviewer weighed more than 225 lbs.

Amazon has one that folds and looks pretty good, and has almost 1,000 4+ Stars reviews. Brand is MaxKare and price is $169. Might check it out.
