People hoarding paper products again I think

Went to BJ's senior hours this morning. No paper towels and only their own brand of toilet paper, and not a lot of that left.

I'm heading to Target in awhile, so I will report back, LOL.

My grocery store yesterday and plenty of toilet paper, all brands, and a so so supply of paper towels.

I don't think it's hoarding causing the paper towel situation.

A news story this morning said that while manufacturers ramped up toilet paper production, they haven't done the same with the towels, although demand increased.

Everytime I've been to Costco they've had plenty. It's always the busiest aisle in the store. Same with my 2 grocery store (Kroger and Publix). I'm gearing up to go to Costco in the next week or two. I'll report back if something has changed.

Our local chain has plenty of both, although the Scott TP is getting low.

Their paper towel brand was out completely last week but there were plenty of other brands, including a no-name brand.

I did notice Kleenex was very low.

I don't think it is hoarding; I think the supply chain is slower and depends upon what day of the week one shops.

@Johnnyeager I read an article about paper towels a few weeks ago. Learned that the machines to manufacture the towels are very expensive and take so long to manufacture the companies aren’t adding new ones. Right now they’re already rolling them out 24/7 at capacity.

I’m using more washable cleaning cloths when I can just to make what I have last longer.

There is no problem finding paper products in my area and Clorex and Lysol wipes are available as well.

Hand sanitizer and bottles of alochol are stacked up to the ceiling...

I think they ordered too much.

No laundry sanitizer though.

Been ok in my area...CVS has been where I've gotten it last two times...Brawny paper towels, and Scott TP 12 packs...with 30% coupon, so not a bad price.

Of all the COVID shortages, somehow paper towels and tp didn't wind up being an issue for me. Cleaning wipes and sprays have been touch and go...but finally got the wipes when they just restocked at CVS, also, and the brand disinfectant I use in last instacart from the grocery.

I don't belong to the big box stores like BJs and Costco...just not close by, and I don't have a ton of storage, so I never bothered....but maybe try CVS, Walgreen's, Walmart?

I'd say I had more of an issue early on with paper towels...haven't been able to buy Bounty this whole time...way expensive, but usually the best. Had some pathetic cheap stuff in Spring when nothing was available...but now I've been able to find Brawny (almost as good as Bounty) at CVS.

Also...just fyi...early on when I couldn't find Paper towels anywhere, our local hardware store had "commercial grade" stuff (blue color)...better than nothing. Just saying, sometimes the stores that you might not think of first for these things will have some stock..

Our local Giant Eagle has never had the amount of TP they had pre-pandemic but paper towel hasn't been an issue. Since all this started there has been a limit on both TP and papertowels.

I was in Meijer yesterday and for the first time since they opened in July, there is now a limit of 2 on all cleaning supplies. No limit with them that I saw on TP or PT.

Because it makes my stomach go sour for one thing. People like to report on the bad things that isn't even true for everybody and then people like to respond to the bad things with more bad news.

Who wants to live with more bad news every day. I was glad I was able to use all that flour for the church that I cook for. Thank you for bringing that up.

I'm tired of all these **** threads of shortages, panic buying instigation, think people just like to think they created it . Makes them feel superior.

You can't ignore them their in the **** forums each and every day.

'Panty shortages', no more panty buying, stock up now will be next.

Won't be able to buy a pair of drawers next. ROFL

One comment here: When this Prairie Girl who is deprived gets a shot at White Lily Flour I'm going to stock up no apologies.

Where they normally have it, they will get more. Where I live and it isn't sold, I get it when I can. Those folks will get more next week. I can't. I might be depriving someone that day, but I wouldn't be taking the last and only.

I'll stick up for Sharke on that one!
