Yuck! Snow!

We had our first snow overnight. It is early enough that it'll melt but I still don't like it. The farmer's almanac puts us on the edge between tons of snow and normal snow this winter.

Oh, how I envy you, as I absolutely love a beautiful snowfall! Sorry, but I love the quiet it brings, and the beauty of a clean, landscape. Now, what I do not like is the ice that may develop. But, a fresh, clean snowfall brings me peace! I recently moved South, and I miss the changes of seasons!

I have to admit that a nice clean snowfall is pretty. It doesn't bother me quite as much now as it did before retiring since I don't have to worry about getting to work. We can get nasty snowstorms, winds, and ice storms here and I dread those.

I am still waiting on a tree service to take care of the major tree damage from the midwest hurricane (derecho) that hit at the end of August. I have huge 40-50 foot limbs hanging and one will land on a neighbor's garage if it falls. I have quotes from 3 companies and the first one to become available gets the job. They all told me it'd be before Christmas.

Oh how I envy you. It's still in the 90's here and we are wishing for rain and cooler weather. I would love to be wearing long sleeves, sweaters and boots and watch the snow come down.

Those who say they "love" snow. Sure, the first snowfall is pretty. But if you have several feet of it in a winter, it gets old pretty fast. Chicago has been very lucky the past few winters. Hope it continues because if I never see another flake of snow again, it will be too soon!!!

I would guess that those who love snow don't have to shovel it, drive in it and deal with all the other inconveniences that snow often brings. I'm another who would be just as happy to never see another snow flake.

I love snow, too. Here in Colorado it can never snow enough. Snow makes the economy here stay alive plus when the snow melts in the spring it supplies essential water for many areas around here and elsewhere. I never complain about the snow here...and yes, I shovel it every year and it's good exercise.

@SoftRain - I'm with you. I miss the snow as well. Former Jersey girl here and moved to SC - hubby hates the cold and snow - me, I love the cold and snow, lol.

Love going North in the winter and always hope for snow. Unfortunately, that will not happen this year.

Send it down to Texas--- after a couple of nice days in the 60's/70's its supposed to be 90 today, then upper and mid 80's.... I dont think the heat will ever go away this year....

I would welcome the snow....and the good thing about snow here....it seldoms lasts beyond noon....so no shoveling drive ways needed ❄️❄️☃️

That's what my dad used to say. All his life his job had him in the harsh elements day in and day out. He'd say "those who love snow don't have to work out in it everyday!"

I agree....lots of snow all winter gets old really FAST!....not to mention the never ending cloudy & cold days. Having snow in the middle of October is way too early.

Most trees where I am still have leaves on them. Several years ago right before Halloween we had a significant snowfall. It brought down a lot of trees and large branches due to the weight of the snow on the leaves still on the trees.

Yes, the first few snowfalls are pretty, but when it gets dirty as the winter goes on ,not so much, i worry about power outages in the winter, no back up here, but we get whatever we get ,i guess.

I live in the PNW and I like the kind of snow that does not stick! I love to look outside and see the pine trees covered with snow but none on the street. Luckily that is usually how it goes here!

^This!!! Hoping someday to live somewhere where it snow is much less frequent or not at all. I'd much rather deal with 90-100 temps than snow and cold. My area has some of the worst winter weather anywhere and pretty much from right about now thru April it could snow at anytime. And not just a few "pretty" flakes. I mean several feet in a short time.

My mom and dad always told me snow is "poor man's fertilizer". Guess that makes it easier to deal with. I always leave out seed and cereal for the birds, squirrels, turkeys, etc. as it can be a difficult time for wildlife (and sometimes me too when snowed in).

Live in 4 season environment. Since I no longer snow ski, my love for snow has waned. I drive a major highway to work and winter driving takes so much longer. Glad we live in a maintenance provided community. Snow shoveling days are over. We spend my least favorite month - February - in warmer climate. It sure does help the winter dreads.
