I received this information in our dog training club newsletter today. To those of you who "own" dogs, I hope you will enjoy the following "data." I totally agree with the Internal Clock statement.

Dog Data

All puppies have accidents during the night and are

unable to control or ‘hold it in’ overnight until they

are about four months old.

A dog has 319-321 bones in its body (depending on

the length of the tail (long tails contain more bones

than short tails). Dogs have about 115 more bones

than humans.

Fetch is not a dog’s favorite game; they actually prefer

a game called keep away. Keep away is a game you

play with your dog where you try and take a toy/ball

away from them. It’s a game that you never ever have

to teach them. Fetch is a game that needs to be taught.

Some dogs actually lick their paws and then clean

their heads, just like cats. (There’s nothing to worry

about unless they start meowing.)

Dogs have an amazing internal clock. They know

exactly when it’s time to go for a walk, to play,

to eat and to go to bed. They know when it’s time

for you to get up in the morning and when you are

expected home from work, particularly if you keep

to a regular schedule. (You might want to consider

using your dog as your morning alarm clock!)

Dogs with more squished faces such as pugs, boxers,

and bulldogs tend to have more health problems. The

structure of the face makes them more prone to

respiratory, dental, and other health problems.

The average dog is as intelligent as a two-year-old child.

The U.S. has the highest dog population in the world.

Dog owners are more likely to share germs with their

dog by not washing their hands than by sleeping with

their dog, or getting licks on the face.
