Paul Harvey, did you or your family listen to him?

I just listen to one of his segments. Did you or/and your family ever listen to him consistently? I remember my dad listening to him in the car. If so, is there one that you remember the most? I remember the one where he talked about how he thought that buying your child a Tracfone would teach them more responsibility than just buying them a phone. He said, if you give them a set number of monthly minutes, that it would make them more aware of how much they used their phone. I agreed with him on that one. 😊

My late husband used to listen to him frequently.

Every now and then I'd listen to him also. I enjoyed listening to him. He made a lot of sense.

Tuned in while driving. Good memories of smiling, sometimes chuckling. Such a good man. Is there anyone out there like him now?

Yes. My father and my late husband were great fans of Paul Harvey's broadcasts.

"So God Made a Farmer" and "Policeman" are two of my favorites.

I remember his show would come on the radio in the morning while I got ready for school. I could hear it playing from the radio in my mom and dad's room. Funny, when I was in elementary school, I thought he was a local reporter broadcasting from my hometown. I didn't realize it was a syndicated show. 😂

I remember him from my childhood especially. We listened to am radio and he was on every day.

I really miss him, and others like him that were on the radio back in the day. I especially loved "The Rest of the Story"

I remember Paul Harvey. His voice was so soothing and comforting. I enjoyed listening to a segment called "The Rest of the Story." As I remember it, he would tell a story about someone, without mentioning the person's name. Then, at the end he would reveal the person's name. It was always fun trying to figure out who he was talking about.

Yes, brings back wonderful memories growing up. My dad would listen to him. His voice was comforting. His messages were good. A good man!

I remember him coming on the radio in the car, and my father turning to another station. I guess he didn't want to hear whatever he was saying.

Thanks for mentioning him and bringing so many memories, @wvumountiefan . One of the multiple award-winning, great giants of broadcasting, a fixture of ABC radio for decades, heard and savored by millions upon millions.

Love radio and the pioneering broadcasters who populated it. He brought such flair to the medium.

Yes, those were simper, less divisive times. We had differences, but didn't shoot each other because of them. I remember the segment "The Rest of the Story," like many others here.

The Way I Heard It with Mike Rowe is an excellent extension of Paul Harvey's The Rest of the Story. Mike is a television narrator and host with hundreds of podcast stories (also in book form). You might recognize him from Discovery Channel series called Dirty Jobs which showcases Mike Rowe.

Oooo that brought up memories!

We only had one car when I was growing up (my Mom didn't go to work until I was in 6th grade), so if she needed the car during the day she would drive my Dad to work and pick him up at 5.

I would ride along with her to pick him up after work sometimes and the car radio was always tuned to the same local station - it had a Paul Harvey story followed by a Ellery Queen mystery. Loved listening to both!
