I've been printing articles and photos of the ceremonies and speeches re: The Notorious RBG the last several days. I want to be sure my granddaughters have a wonderful example of kindness, equality and humanity to follow.

The picture says so much about a hero, a fighter for justice for all and someone who left a void in our justice system but did so much for everyone.

This picture reminded me of watching the JFK funeral with tears running down my face as his toddler son at the time, John Jr. standing with Jackie and Carolyn salutied as his father's casket passed. I will never forget and this young girl in her supergirl outfit saluting Ruth is just as meaningful and touching.

Be with God, Ruth and know your place in history is one we are proud of.

I don't know how old your granddaughters are, but there are some children's books about her. Even a Little Golden Book

@kitcat51, you'd be surprised. A whole new generation had come to understanding and appreciating RBG. This young one has probably been schooled by her parents. She may not grasp all the legal aspects but can surely understand what it means to be an important figure who fought for her country.

I have been sad and depressed all day. Not just about the dear departed Ruth but about other things happening in our country. Everyday is worse than the one before.

Some adults underestimate a child's ability to absorb certain concepts on their own levels, which will be looked back upon as they grow to maturity and inspiration.

We would be well-served to look back on our own experienes as childen and how they have affected us if we haven't covered them with dust.

I decided last night I have to turn the news and all other political shows off

for tonight ... do not know what I will do after but this stuff is really starting

Oh please...let kids be kids & stop using them .There's no way that ,little girl dressed herself & said let's go...her parents dressed her that way for attention & I wouldn't be surprised if they end up on GMA. Ugh.

Unfortunately, I think things will grow far worse in the days ahead. We have to figure out what we need to do to stay sane and on an even keel.

I try to keep telling myself that "this too shall pass" but it just seems to go on day after day.

Actually @kitcat51, I tend to agree with you. The kid is essentially a prop and as much as there is to admire about Ms. Ginsburg, last time I looked, salutes tend to be a military and commander in chief kind of thing... Don't think we're yet saluting Supreme Court justices...
