How did your parents meet

I have found that more times than not this is a sweet story....

How did your parents meet? Or how did you meet your spouse?

My parents met at a street dance by the Local Firehouse. Mom was not going to go, but she had a fight with her sister, and stormed out of the house..She was standing on the outskirts of the crowd, scowl on her face, and dad came over and asked her what was wrong.

They were married 52 years...

Mother was a 'girl singer' with a big band in a nightclub, Father was a bartender at the club where the band was performing. Not so "sweet", but true.

My parents met on a train. My Mom was a Marine (WWII). My Dad was in the Army/Air Force (WWII). They were both on their way to different military bases in California and met on the train ride to California. Mom was from the East coast, Dad was from Texas.

My father was in the Air Force during the occupation. My mom was from Frankfurt Germany and that is where they met. They married in 1948 and were together until her death in 2003, he followed 2 years later after suffering with Alzheimer's. They were wonderful people and the best role models. I miss the every day. 🌺

My parents went on a double date to their senior prom but not as each other's date. They were married for 53 years before my mother died.

I met my husband at work. Many co-workers tried to set us up but we didn't start dating until I asked him out. We have been married 25 years.

I'm not sure exactly how they met, but my mother stood up in first grade class and announced that she was going to marry my father. He said no, he was going to be an (train) engineer and wouldn't need a wife. Later after college and he had been working for awhile, he told her they could get married when he got a vacation. He went into work that Monday and his boss suggested he take a vacation. Just sayin.

My mom came to the US in the 1930's after her dad called for the rest of the family (wife & 4 daughters).

Dad was from Calabria, Italy; fought against us in WW2. They were writing to each other as mom's stepbrother, Uncle Tony, and dad's sister, Aunt Viola, were married (yikes!).

Dad came here about 1947. They married January 14, 1949. Dad was a police officer in Italy, but when he came here, he learned the gardening business from Uncle Tony. Started his own business in 1954, the year I was born.

Mom died July, 2009, massive stroke. Dad died May, 2019, after mom came to him one night and said it was "time to go".

My sister said dad came to the US because he broke up with his girlfriend and her father threatened to kill him. Gotta love those Italians!

Mom and dad met while they were both teaching at a junior high school in a small town in Southwestern Colorado.

My parents met at a New Year's Eve party where they ditched their dates, ditched the party and went out for coffee. They were married 14 months later.

My Mom and her girlfriend were walking home from a carnival and my Dad and his friend were behind them. The guys started teasing and flirting with the girls. Fortunately my Dad was interested in my Mom and his friend was interested in my Mom's friend.

My parents married on my Mom's 21st birthday and her friend was her maid-of-honor. A few months later her friend married my Dad's friend and my Mom was her maid-of-honor. Both couples were married in very small ceremonies and had no other attendants.

Each couple stayed with their respective spouses until their husbands passed away.Neither of them ever married again and dating another man was out of the question.

My Mom always said that she felt so lucky to have had a man who treated her as good as my Dad always did. Besides still loving him, I believe that she was afraid that she could end up with a man completely different than my Dad.

She spent the rest of her life enjoying her grandchildren and visiting with her friends.

My parents grew up in a village and lived a block apart.
They were best friends and went with my father's mother in her cream Studebaker convertible. They were 12 when Papa started driving it with Grandmama chaperoning in the back seat.
There weren't many cars on the roads then!

They met when my mom was 14 and my dad 16 in high school. He was a teacher's assistant in of her classes. To get her attention, he mispronounced her maiden name on purpose.

They married when she was 17 and he was 19. Theyr have been married almost 60 years now! They had nearly 9 years before I came along.

BTW, I kept the tradition by marrying my high school sweetheart, too. Just not at age 17.

My parents met on vacation when both were staying at the same boarding house in the Catskill Mountains in New York. This was in the 1940's and they married in 1950.

Have to put this in context. Both were from a rural area.

My Mom was working on a farm and was cleaning in the milk house. My Dad drove a milk truck. My Mom loved to sing. My Dad came to the farm to pick up the milk and heard someone in the milk house singing and shouted out "Who's that in there singing?" He died when he was 52, so they only had 26 years together and Mom never remarried.

My ex-husband and I met in college. Not as interesting as a story as my parents.

My father was dating my mother's older sister who was always running late and made him wait until she was ready.

My father used to pay my mother (little sister) to polish his shoes while he was waiting. My father and my Aunt never made it down the aisle, but years later my dad ran into my mother and they hit it off. The rest is history. They were married until my mother passed and he followed years later.

I think it is funny/ strange that my dad dated my Aunt. They were totally unsuited for each other... both type A personalities.

My husband and I met when I was 13. He, his father and brothers were visiting my parents around the Christmas holidays. I just said hello to him and didn't think much of him, but his father told me that he was so smitten with me that he told his dad that he was going to marry me.

When I asked my DH if that was true, he said it was. He said I was the most beautiful girl he ever met. I guess I didn't stand a chance...his mind was made up. I did resist though...I didn't think he was my type. We have been married 47 years.

My parents? I have no idea. Never knew the s**** donor because he took off before I was old enough to know who the he!! he was. It was never a topic in our home.

My wife I met through a friend. No romantic story to tell. I met her in 1972 and here we are still together.

My parents families both had summer homes on the Jersey shore near each other. The families became friendly and saw each other during the summers. Eventually Mom and Dad married.

Some really cool stories here...my dad was in the Navy and on shore leave. It was 1952. They were in a bar in downtown Baltimore and my dad spotted my mom and asked her to dance. They married two years later and were together 61 years until her passing in 2015...we all still miss her so much. He is still rocking it at 94...go dad

Mom's neighbors across the street told her that their cousin had just gotten back from WWII and was coming to visit. They wanted her to come over and meet him. Well, she did, and the rest is history. They were married for 57 years. I guess there really is something special about a man in uniform.
