Do you have AAA

Im sooo tired of dealing with my car battery that was gotten 3 years ago. This 5 year battery has needed jumped many times since it was bought. Do anyone of you know if AAA car batteries are around the same cost as getting one at auto shop? I thought since I need to call AAA for jumpstart I could also get the battery from them. Would you recommend that or is it better to get some other place.

I have AAA. I think AAA only gives discounts at certain auto shops. I've not seen where you can get it directly from them unless you have a AAA actual mechanic shop near you. I've never seen one.

I got my battery replaced at my usual mechanic and it wasn't a horrible expense. It actually has been one of the cheapest.

Fair warning if you have emissions or some sort of inspection coming up, get that done first otherwise you have to drive the car 100 plus miles to reset all of the newfangled electronics.

I have AAA. I called them about a year and a half ago because the 7 year old battery in my car died. They showed up in about 30 minutes with a battery and put it in my car. He was great. I live in Florida and I don't know if they are the same price everywhere, but I think the battery was around $130. The convienence was worth it and I was only a half hour late for work!

I purhased a battery for my sister's car in June from AAA and I believe it was about $155.00. It was an easy transaction, but I think it was a probably a little more costly than if you went to a battery store. Also, I purchased a battery for my own car about three years ago from a store in my area called Batteries Plus. When I had to have it jumped for the second time, I took my car back to Batteries Plus and they gave me a new battery free of charge -- the original one was defective. You might check back with where you original purchased the battery as it may be under warranty.

I got a battery from AAA a few years ago. I never compared prices, because the convenience was well worth any upcharge. Now, mine was an emergency, but I could have just accepted the jumb start and gotten a new battery elsewhere. I chose not to. They had it done in about 30 minutes, working in a McDonalds parking lot. I will pay for convenience sometimes.

AAA batteries are sold at a discount to AAA members.

It appears that your current battery has a parasitic leak/draw. I would return it to the place you purchased it from. They should give you a new battery for FREE.

@FlowerBear AAA batteries use different suppliers depending on what state you are in. They are generally considered to be good. You could probably find a better deal elsewhere, but I'm wondering if you may have something else going on with your car, since your battery has not lasted it's predicted life. We have AAA for the hotel and retail discounts and because I frequently drive hundreds of miles alone. It pays for itself.

If time and convenience allows, I would have my vehicle towed to a retail outlet where they sell and install new battieries. I like to have a brick-and-mortar place where I can return if there is a problem with the new battery. Also, there may be a price reduction if you turn in the old battery.

I had AAA for many years, but cancelled it due to the high cost. I was also miffed that they would only pay to tow the car 5 miles under the basic coverage if it became disabled. Ripoff! While with them, I called to have my battery replaced about 3-4 years ago. They called out a local shop/mechanic they contracted with that came out in frigid weather to replace it. I've since replaced it again for a higher quality battery through my Lincoln car dealer.

AAA will replacement your old battery for free if you originally bought a battery from them. I bought a new battery in 2018 and it died last month. They replaced for free. Make sure you keep your receipts. Because we live in the desert our batteries only last 2 or 3 years. AAA will also replace your windshield wipers for a much better price than a dealership.

I have AAA and I bought the subscriptions for 2 daughters.

I don’t know about the costs.

My advice for you is to always shop around, always.

Only after you’ve checked prices can you make an informative decision.

Make sure they are willing to put the battery in for you as they are a bit heavy and not easy to get in and out.

Always check with others to find the best cost.

AAA tow truck operators are more than happy to sell you a new battery. But their batteries are expensve. I've had them jump-start my car, then I make a beeline to Pep Boys (or another auto supply store) where I purchase a battery at a reasonable price.

Why not have it installed at the garage where you get your car serviced...inspected? Looking for the lowest price might not be a good idea. Buy a good battery.

How often are you driving the car? Are you keeping the battery charged?

If you have a garage (need an electrical outlet), have them put on a Battery Tender or something similar. It is attached to your car battery and keeps it charged to 100%.

A battery charger is also a suggestion. They are very easy to use.

QVC sells Halo, an instant car starter for dead batteries that will get you to a garage.

@FlowerBear I've been an AAA member for as long as I can recall.

A few months ago my battery died. I called AAA and the guy tested it after he got it jumped, and it had only 8% voltage left!

I bought one from him right then and there. I don't recall the price but it was worth it.

I LOVE AAA. They've saved my bacon more than once! My late DH said we would NEVER be without it.

My DS and his wife have had it for many years as well. They are lifesavers IMO.

The peace of mind AAA gives me is well worth the cost.I have had excellent service from them including new batteries. Living alone I know I can get service anywhere at anytime.

I've had AAA for decades and am very pleased with it. My battery is one I purchased from them. After having a few batteries 'go bad' one guy from AAA, who came to my house, told me about the Battery Tender Jr.

Because I drive so little now (like REALLY little!) my batteries were just running down. You can keep the Battery Tender plugged in all the time, obviously while NOT driving, or just plug it in to charge it up fully from time to time.

I do the second choice and, every few weeks or so, I plug it in until it's fully charged. My little driving was all that the problem was, all that time.

One of the outlets in my garage is right next to the door so, since I was always backing in anyway, the front of my car is right near the outlet so it works out well.

This has been a huge game-changer for me in the battery department. It's been quite a few years now (I'd say 5-7) and no having to replace the battery.

I've had Triple A (AAA) for many years. I also gift it to DD for her birthday each year, and she gets a ton of use from them. I once happened to sit next to a Triple A contractor/tow truck diver at an auction and he explained how it works. Triple A members get prioity on calls. They get paid less in some cases, but payment is instantly deposited to their account. And they never get stiffed, as they do with many customers. They are rated on feedback, which keeps their performance up. Once a guy spent a good hour triangulating tow ropes around trees in my yard to free my car that had gotten stuck on an icy slope. I wouldn't be without AAA.

I have AAA and, yes, they will bring a battery to you and install it and you pay them for the battery.

Yes, we have AAA Plus for almost 30 yrs! Would not be without it!
