Daylight Savings Time

Read an article yesterday saying 9 states are considering staying on standard time like Hawaii and Arizona do, and eliminating Daylight Savings Time. It must be determined state by state. I would love to stay on the same time hear-round. I hate when it is dark at 6 pm..makes me ready to go to bed! Guess my internal clock gets thrown off and it does take me a week or so to acclimate to it....would you like to see DST be done away with? Is your state one that is considering it? The article I read did not list the names of the states.

Pick a time and stick with it. The twice yearly change is disruptive and idiotic.

I want to stay on it all year! I can't wait for it to start every year. Winter is SOOOOOOOO depressing! I hate it!

I think its original purpose was to help farmers have more daylight to work the fields and harvest crops....so it has outlived its purpose.

Actually, not to pick nits, but, it's Daylight Saving Time.

There is no "S" on Saving.

Now back to your regularly scheduled programming.

It doesn't bother me at all. There are too many other situations which cause me stress. Daylight Savings Time is way down on that list!

Its actually a little more complicated. We in California voted for it during our last election, or perhaps it was the one before that, but it also has to approve at a congressional level as well.

I voted for it. I hate the back and forth.

The correct name is Daylight Saving (not Savings) Time.

@lovesrecess Actually, Arizona has TWO time zones. The Navajo Nation observes DST, while the rest of the state does not.

Florida has been talking about this for years. It needs to stay on Daylight savings time. It is warm here. We want to be outside later. I collect clocks , so I pray they make it one or the other.

I prefer to stay on real time. However, I know we never will because businesses like the extra hour of daylight. I know it's only one hour, but I hate the adjustment I have to make twice a year for sleep, etc. Don't most people already have enough issues with sleep?

I love DST and having more daylight during my waking hours. I have no problem whatsoever adjusting to it. Even my dogs adjust easily. I don't know why people have such trauma with ONE hour.

A state House Representative in support of ending Daylight Saving Time.

He says DST has “outlived its usefulness.”

"Daylight saving time was created during World War I to decrease energy used for lights and help conserve energy supplies to help the war effort."

"But with the invention of energy-efficient light bulbs, energy savings from daylight saving have become almost nonexistent."

“There is no national crisis that changing clocks helps to alleviate.”

Supporters pointed to a study showing an increased risk of car accidents and heart attacks following the spring change due to the loss of an hour's sleep.

Economically, “In most cases, impact to business would be minimal because operational hours are set by the clock, not the amount of light. It would be fairly uniform year-round."

States can choose to exempt themselves from daylight saving time, nothing in federal law allows them to exempt themselves from standard time.

Would rather have it stay daylight saving time year around. Working people might like to do outdoor chores after work that you can't really do in the dark. Also, might save a bit on the electric bill .
