Dark Russet Potato Chips - My New Obsession!

I have passed over the kettle cooked dark russet potato chips for a long time, thinking they looked boring. WOW! was I wrong! Got them on sale the other week. They are like those house made potato chips at a restaurant. You always go for the dark ones, ya know? Well I took them down to DD's house. Turns out, she and I are the only fanatics in our family. It must be a love or hate it thing. Have you tried them? Or, do you have another chip obsession?

I've never seen this potato chip offered in my stores, but I bet I'd like them. I grab the restaurant 'dark ones,' too. Those a few seconds away from being burned.

Herr's is a very popular brand on the east coast, made in the Amish Country of PA. Schools in my area sometimes took tours of the factory.

I've haven't tried those chips...maybe a good thing! I usually go crazy for most any kind of chip. Right now I'm going crazy for these Terra Vegetable chips!! In fact, I haven't bought any in a few weeks b/c I can't stop eating them and I'm afraid to keep them in the house...LOL!

@sunshine45 OK. I've been waiting for the Utz to be on sale to try them. I have always liked Utz - especially their crab chips. I'm sure I'll try them soon.

I never see Herr's in my area anymore, though at one time we did have them. Have seen the Utz Russets and passed right by them, assuming they weren't for me. I'll have to try them. I'm not interested in all those somewhat out there flavors Lays seems to be coming up with but I might like these. Someone had suggested salt and pepper chips a while back. I did try those, but didn't care for the pepper. I do like most barbecue flavored chips and occasionally like the extra crispy kettle style chips. I like some of Gibbles chips but they too have gotten to be hard to find.

Oh wow...I had this kind of chip recently with a carry out burger and LOVED them. Wow thanks for posting what they are. I will be buying them by the bagsfull and hiding them..lol!

It's very appropriate there are two bags in this pic. I never buy just one and I'm at Trader Joe's once a week. I also don't share.

@sunshine45 @PA Mom-mom Utz are my favs to. I also buy from Utz, the Zapp's Cajun Dill Gator - tator Dill Chips. My whole family is hooked on them. They're not healthy but oh so yummy. They're addictive. They come in small bags so we try not to eat the whole bag in one sitting. The do have a kick to them so if you're adverse to spice, pass on these. We buy them buy the case.

I do agree, the classic dark russets are really good. For a change and to be a little healthy, I buy their unsalted chips to. Theyre not bad.

I can no longer purchase them because once I start I seem to lose the ability to stop.

OMG! I'm in love with those, too! I can eat an entire bag in a heartbeat. I cannot buy them any more. I have no self control with those at all!! I'm glad I'm not the only one. LOL!

Chips are my downfall. Cannot have them in my house as I cannot stop eating them. I no longer have a sweet tooth, I have a salt tooth I guess.

Those dark russets are sooo very good! I do not have Utz or Herr brand here, but do have them in Cape Cod brand.

The 5 lbs I have recently gained, during all this dern virus mess, are due partly to chips...........☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️

don't like burned chips

waiting for Lay's to get back on the stick and make my Salt & Pepper chips again. Kettle brands are to hard and leaves spots on the inside of my jaw like brownish red dots that disappear after a day or 2. Quit eating cornies and kettle chips.

DH bought Peruvian potato chips at TJ's-kind of kettle style and different colors. Yes, from Peru.
