Do You "Window" Shop ---

--- before you decide to buy something, either here or elsewhere??? I certainly do and usually end up not purchasing anything from any place. Or if I do buy, it's usually the place that has the better price and free or reduced shipping.

I miss real window shopping. Back in the days of the fabulous fashion stores. They'd have mannequins with the latest styles for you to see. Was fun to go in and try them on, and of course buy what you liked. Now I'm reduced to seeing something in a paper catalog. It's hit or miss that way.

@coffee drinker I don't go by price. I go by the value of the item to me. Will I use it, wear it, or need it? Do I want to store it? Or is it just a whim? Price and value are totally separate items to me.

I think the only time I "window shop" for comparison is when I'm buying yarn.

There are several places I shop that carry the yarns I use - and I always compare prices at each before I buy.

oh yes... all day long... my Amazon cart is alway full of dozens of "maybe" items.... that usually get deleted down to one or two... I enjoy filling up my cart.

Interesting question. Yes I mainly comparison/window shop - brick and mortar stores or online. I have more time and love a bargain more now. However, I have been known to spot something on sale with my ex-ray vision, see there's only one available, and walk directly to the cashier. My favorite denim jacket was on a 50% clearance rack at Coldwater Creek near the check-out station. Only one in my size. I grabbed it and sat it on the counter. At Macy's handbag sale, I saw there was only 1 bag left that I wanted, picked it up without coming to a complete stop and walked directly to the cashier. Some days, shopping feels more like a sport.

I both comparison shop when I'm really intersred in something and I 'window' shop by just looking at different things with little intention of making an immediate purchase.

I've never been one to window shop, per se, as in just looking. I will do comparisons for some things. I go for quality first, then price.

I've never enjoyed shopping, just to shop, though. If I'm needing/wanting to purchase something specific I will try to make that happen with as much ease and as little time as possible.

Just another thing for which I should probably turn in my 'girl card'.

I comparison shop when I'm buying expensive items like computers, furniture and jewelry. I'm doing that now, I want to buy a new living room set and I've been looking on line, comparing prices but also comparing styles, fabric etc.

I did not inherit the shopping gene, and have never been one to waste time going from store to store looking at an item and the price.

However, I do use the internet to comparison shop for specific features, colors, etc.

I consider window shopping more for out of the ordinary purchases.

Of course, if it's a commonly used necessity item, I'll definitely price compare.

Window shopping is more for something like artwork or sculpture--one of a kind items. (Could include furniture and lighting.)

And for that I do *window shop*. I may see something and go home (or just continue to browse elsewhere) and if something truly haunts me, I'll go back again and look at it.

If it really haunts me, that means it's a go ahead.

And if it's gone, well, then I'm pithed at myself.

With fall coming, I've been craving some new sweaters, boots, etc., but won't go to the stores. So when that craving hits, I go to various websites to shop and compare prices.

I haven't ordered anything yet except a new pair of Keds' sneakers. Oh boy!

Yes I do. If its a big purchase, it takes me forever to decide, if its not urgent, like a major appliance going out.
