Would you open the envelope???

I have an envelope for you, in it is the date and time of your death. There is NOTHING you can do to change it.

Would you open it??

I definately would.....Knowledge is power

Have a feeling most wont... but is that more because you dont want to think about the enivibality of life ending?

I can change it by jumping off the bridge. I have never liked being told what I can and cannot do.

Probably yes, but I would really want to know the circumstances. On 2nd thought, probably no.....I think I would feel like i was on death row .....not a good feeling at all.

I've told my family if I am diagnosed with a terminal illness with extremely low survival prognosis, to get me in hospice care sooner than later....I have a low pain threshold. I guess that is as close as I care to get to knowing my expiration date.

Nope!!!! What is the point? Your life would be structured around your date of death. If it's a time and soon or showing you go at a young age then your life will be anxiety over it and in most cases a gloom and doom why bother attitude. If it shows you'll live to a ripe old age then it could cause an attitude of putting things off since there is a lot of time left. I would sooner live one day at a time and enjoy life. I think there was an episode like that on one of those shows like "The Twilight Zone" or "One Step Beyond".

Yes, definitely. For those strong enough to handle the countdown to their expiration date, it actually has more pros than cons.

Far too many people don't prepare themselves, or their family for their demise. They don't even obtain Wills, or Directives for the Physician. It's as if death only happens to someone else, not them. It's a way to deny the inevitable.

If we knew, we could make realistic life goals. Goals that could be accomplished and enjoyed for our individual clock, while making sure we had plenty of time to complete our bucket lists, instead of living nose to the grindstone.

I've seen far too many dying prematurely, never having a chance to enjoy some much deserved retirement time. Including my husband, several friends and family members. Would they have worked as hard if they knew. I doubt it.

Yes I would.

When you are given a medical diagnosis of a particular disease then that can come with a countdown clock. But that is only true for a very small number of diagnoses and even those have been proven to be wrong. I tend to look at the odds against me...pessimistic? Yes, I know.

If the date was different than the date and time you jumped off the bridge then you could not die then if you cannot change the date and time in the envelope!!!

No need - the date and time tell me nothing important. Now if the message were to tell me about my life during the 5 preceding years, I might be curious.

BTW - I've known 2 men who at about 3 in the afternoon were told by their doctors that they were fine. Both were dead before the day was over!

One of those men was my father.

Curiosity hopefully wouldn't get the better of me. I think if you know when you will die, you're probably not living your life to the fullest, you might think what's the point. Better to just live your life, whatever happens is out of your control.

I wouldn't wanna know. If you knew what day you where gonna die would be so stressed that that might kill you first.
