topic Wedding Gift Request in Community Chat

I know that things are changing in the world of weddings but this one has me totally stumped. In the interest of saving the environment the engaged couple requests that their gifts are not wrapped or in boxes. Now I'm all for saving the environment, but how are you supposed to give a place setting of Lenox china or waterford crystal that is not boxed? Now being practical I'm giving a kitchen appliance which comes already boxed, but there is a lot of expensive stuff on their registry that would need to be carefully packed. Just wondering if anyone had encountered this request before.
