Hawaii, Alaska and Puerto Rico shipping rates could rise-a lot. My ordering will slow down or stop. Do you think businesses like Q care?

@traveler I would think a business would care if it is going to affect the buying habits of its customers if they are a significant portion of its base.

@traveler : Q and other vendors should care a lot about this development and I, as a rural customer, also care a lot. If I can't depend on the Post Office for delivery my delivery costs will go through the roof!

I think every day, businesses like Q have to turn on the news just like everyone else to find out what new mess they have to react to. I don't think the needs of businesses like the Q are considered at all. And the Q may eventually have to react by cutting out some loyal customers. It's dominoes falling. Cause and effect.

I thought you used a Latin phrase. But non conus = non-contiguous U.S. - as in states and territories.

What can ANY business do about shipping costs and/or efficiencies?

They do not have any control over the cost of gold (jewelery), or tarriffs (imported goods) or shipping rates or natural disasters or pandemics.

I think Q and all business do care about the quality of services that they provide. Some of them adapt to changes and communicate the problems better than others. Q does neither of these well.

I think most businesses will care if it effects their profits. But I don't know if anyone can control the cost of shipping these days.

hard to say what this particular biz cares about but would depend on the % of sales those areas generate,

if it's 1% not much but 50% probably,

do other companies upcharge for shipping to those areas?

I have friends in Hawaii (don't know about Alaska) and shipping to and from there has always been expensive. Only options are air or ship (obviously no trucks or trains) and that is expensive.

Many do, yes.

i think that the real organization to be putting the blame on should be USPS rather than QVC......we will be paying more for POOR service. each month the situation has gotten worse and worse.

if you have not felt it, consider yourself lucky.

@traveler they should care if you are a big spender here otherwise sadly no. A big spender would probably be considered by qvc to be in the category "Top 25th customer" although I can't wrap my mind around how much that would be per year. I think "Top 250" is somewhat more common and have seen "Top 1000" but those levels are probably not impressive enough for them to care one whit.
