A Small way to help the Post Office

When you get junk mail....and they in close a prepaid envelope....seal that envelope up empty and mail it back. The post a Office makes a few cents which can add up to a nice sum if enough people do this. I have been doing this for a long time...

I know people do this but sending the envelope back empty will not stop you from receiving mail from that company.

Better to send it back with a request to be removed from their mailing list.

Somebody here posted a way to get rid of unsolicited mail a long time ago-maybe somebody else knows.

@Cakers3 I like that junk mail comes as it helps the Post office. Then sending the enclosed pre paid envelope in also a way to give the PO more money. It is not to stop getting junk mail. Junk mail helps the Post office.

@Cakers3 I got rid of all credit card offers by taking the return portion and writing "remove from your mailing list" on it and returning in the postage paid envelope. I haven't gotten any for years now.

@SeaMaiden Junk mail is perceived in various ways but my biggest issue with junk mail is the waste of paper; it is about the environment for me.

If you are comfortable receiving junk mail, then you do you.

I ordered a bunch of catalogs to help out. And it's good to buy more stamps than you need. That's floating the USPS some money as well. Particularly if you wait on using them until we're in better times. And totally legit.

For the past 5 or 6 weeks we are only getting mail 5 days a week.

He's not even showing up on the block so it's not just that we had no mail to deliver on that particular day.

You're right, it's a small way - too small a way to make any financial difference to the Post Office. They can't get important mail delivered as it is. Let's not inundate them with pointless envelopes. Plus the recipient organization has to pay - really not cool right now for struggling businesses or charities.

If people who can afford it buy those big reels of stamps...that's a good chunk of change right there.

I believe you can request that the post office not deliver "junk mail"; all those annoying flyers that you just cannot get rid of.

I think somewhere in time we did if I remember correctly because we never receive that type either anymore.

you might be able to stop the delivery, but it's better not have the useless mail generated in the first place

there is also DMA.org that has info on how to stop junk mail as well

also to stop mail for dead people too

after my Mother died I went on a "warpath" eliminating catalogs, charities etc,
