The jobs growth is coming from emerging US industries -- such as American shale -- or were sparked by a post-recession shopping-spree for items already produced domestically, like cars.

Other industries are hurting.

"Most companies are in wait and see mode," says Sree Ramaswamy, Partner at McKinsey & Company, citing a decade old economic expansion and slowing global growth. And with tariff costs and uncertain demand, "most companies are not in a hurry to open a new factory or add a new product line."

In the past QVC has just stated "imported" rather than what country it was made. Recently some new items do not provide any information. Some items I don't care where it was made. Food, cosmetics and cleaning products I do want the information so that I can make an informed decision. I will not purchase if it is not available. U.S. Customs requires all imported products to be marked with country of origin. Since I can't read product labels online and QVC has the information it should be voluntarily provided as GOOD customer service. Perhaps online sales should be regulated in this area!

I'm wanting all retailers to put more country of origin on product labels and product descriptions on line too.

I understand a global economy. I understand that sometimes a manufacturer uses multiple countries to supply a product. But there could be a much better job done of disclosing product country of origin.

When I see 'imported' I tend to skip it if at all possible. I'd buy the product if it was from a country or region I care to shop from, like Europe, but not if it is from China.

So more and more, I'm not going to guess and hope what 'imported' might mean, and will just pass on the purchase.

With all the strange packages being shipped to the US unsolicited right now from China, (like the seed packets, dirty socks, sunglasses, etc.), it highlights the importance of identifying the source country. In any case, I am making a concerted effort to buy American whenever possible, and I avoid Chinese products. My reason is that I want to see manufacturing jobs return to the US and I, like millions of other Americans, are now making a point of it. The other factor is that Chinese products have historically been of poor quality, not to mention often contaminated with inferior or dangerous components (like an ongoing issue with melamine found in dog food). QVC should quit disguising the identity of their products with the vague term "imported".

For most things I really don't care from where it's manufactured. I will go along with knowing origin of meds, cosmetics and food but disagree about lumping everything from China "is bad or shoddy". Many seriously high end brands are also made there ( you would be very surprised) and I have no problem. I just concentrate on brands and vendors I trust. Would you rather that the hoards of Chinese be unemployed and living in miserable conditions? That would affect us in geopolitics!

I can remember years of buying shoddy American-made good....shirts where buttons fell off on the first wearing, and seams that frayed and pulled out. I've never had that happen with Chinese-made clothing.

For years and years, I wouldn't buy an American-made auto because they were so poorly made with many problems. You spent half your time and money at the mechanic's shop. Never had trouble with my VWs.

Look at all the recalls on American-produced food products. It's constant; e.coli, salmonella, foreign stuff in food like plastic or metal shavings, etc.

All factory work is not equal. Many worked clean jobs in AC plant, I was not 1 of them.

People I know would jump at a chance to work a regular job in a factory here.
