I'm Ready to Beat the Heat!

First off, my heart goes out to everyone who is suffering through oppressive heat, especially if the temps are over 100°.

Where I live, it doesn't get that hot, but anything above 70° is considered "hot" for us.

But that is nothing compared to temps that are 110°+, I know that, so I'm not complaining about our "heat wave" .

Yesterday I inflated my pool, which measures 120 inches by 72 inches by 22 inches.

The Jamaican restaurant next door is playing music, and have fired up the barbecue.

All I need is a colorful tropical drink, and I can imagine that I am on vacation!

That pool looks very inviting!!

We are having half days of oppressive heat and humidity and the other half of the day is thunderstorms. It's thundering here again right now, and I woke up to lightning and thunder at 2 a.m. this morning.

So far we haven't lost electricity during any of them though, which means the a/c stays on. I'm really feeling for those that still do not have power after the derecho.

I love your pool idea, LOL. We did a similar thing at my best friends house. She has an above ground pool, we played Jamaican music and had cocktails!!! So fun because we have all traveled in the past together to all inclusives in the Carribean and funny enough, who knew? it was almost just as good as being there..........CHEERS

@Anonymous032819 Oh how I miss the San Francisco Bay area weather! You can only imagine since right now the heat index is 107 in my adopted state of Texas.

Southwest here --- Our hot weather has been the topic of many conversations this month!! August is usually our cooling off, rainy month. We usually get 2 days of triple digit temps and lots of rain.

So far this August, we have had over 10 days of triple

digit heat (103 to 108) and .05 inches of rain. Really strange weather and everyone is so tired of it....

I have a friend in Bakersfield. Triple digits for days on end. You are in the far milder area. We visited San Diego a few years ago in late March and it snowed, I had nothing but tees and shorts with me....had to buy a men’s fleece jacket at a Salvation Army store, the only place with any warm clothing.

We've had some of the 90 degree days last week and maybe the week before, but usually there was an afternoon thunderstorm or just simply rain, which I love.

Today it's in the 70's, and it's misty out now.

We got our bike ride in at noon time and it was so nice without sun.

I actually love days like this in the summer. Love the rain, don't mind if it's cloudy out, either.

I wear SPF shirts by Columbia. Have about 12 of them in different colors and even doubles in my favorite colors. Afraid I'll spill a little red wine on one and perhaps ruin it!.

Looks inviting and a nice way to cool off. Love that you have the Jamaican restaurant and music playing... Mix yourself up a Jamaican Rum Punch and you're all set! Better yet, have them mix you up a rum punch and Enjoy!
