While all so true, #40 is the one that I relate to the most. When I worked I had that statement most prominent on my quote board right in the center highlighted.

When I was leaving the parent telecommunications corporation in the 80's, I was taken to lunch at a fine French restaurant by two executives that I had worked for at one of the subsidiary companies ( they had now come up to the parent company ).

I had negotiated switching places with someone who needed to stay so I could start my consulting business. It could have been a very awkward lunch but I admired these two individuals.

As we sat down, I told them I was thankful for all the growth opportunities that they given me because now I would succeed on my own. I compared my 19 years with the company to being in a family: there are always good and not so good members. You learn to coexist and become stronger.

I smiled and told them not to worry: there are so many companies out there that you won't see me knocking on your door for work. My resume with you will be my entree to their businesses. Now, let's enjoy this special time !
