Spoke too soon. We lost my dad this morning.

Some of you may remember my post about my 92 yr old dad getting Covid and being treated with Convalescent Plasma at the end of May. At first I didn't allow myself to hope he'd survive. But, once a month had passed and he wasn't experiencing any outward signs of infection, we thought he'd gotten lucky.

On Tuesday he was admitted to the hospital with low oxygen, found to have pneumonia, also staph infection in his blood AND due to these things, his heart was being strained and blood enzymes indicated he was having a heart attack. He passed shortly after midnight.

I'm taking solace in our belief that Dad's reunited with Mom, whom he missed terribly and I'm thankful we don't have to send him back to the NH. But it's sinking in that he's really gone.

The loss of a loved one, especially a parent (and a last parent, at that), cuts a hole in your heart that never really mends. I am sorry that you lost your beloved father today.

Try to take solace, as you have already noted, that he has now been reunited with your mother. Find some ease for your pain with your memories of your time together. There's nothing like our fond memories.

May he rest in peace.

@Kalli I share and feel your pain and the feeling of loss. I lost my dad 2 yrs ago and most recently my mom in December. I feel like an orphan; my sis and I were extremely close to our parents. May you find peace and comfort during this most difficult time.

My deepest condolences. Losing our parents is heartwrenching: we suddenly feel all alone in this world. But take heart, they are united once again in their healthy, youthful bodies, watching over you and still guiding you as parents do.

I am so sorry for your loss, and wish I had magic words to make your pain less.

This disease has been so tragic for our nation and the world, it

is difficult to imagine what our new normal will be.

I hope the memories of your Dad will help you through as you try to reconcile with his loss. My Dad is 93 and I live with fear hourly.
