Someone asked for fun on this board...

I stole this from my sister on Facebook.

Riddle me this..... You walk in a room and on the bed there are 2 dogs, 4 cats, one giraffe, 5 cows and a duck, with 3 chickens flying above a chair; how many legs are on the floor?

Now, I have zero idea what the right answer is. I have PTSD from the word problems they used to make us do in math class and frankly I think I am dealing with enough in this world right now.

My answer was "the ones whose mothers raised them right." And you?

10 as long as you are the only human in the room. And assuming the chair isn't a rocker and the bed isn't a platform bed.

I really don't know the answer because they delete it when anyone gets it right but there is a chair in the room too. Someone complained about that not being counted too.

I went back and looked and I can tell you 2 and 6 are wrong. Still haven't caught the right answer yet but I think 10 is probably right.

None of the animals are on the floor, so their legs do not count.

"You walk into the room"-assuming one human=2 legs on the floor unless you will not count them since feet touch the floor and not legs.

Beds may have legs but not all of them do.

Assuming the standard 4 legged bed- 4 would be the answer.

But what if it's a platform bed and the chair is one of those poufy beanbag chairs? And the human observer is not in the room, but just standing outside the doorway.

(Giraffes and cows on a bed would break the legs, so they'd have to be on a bed with no legs. Right?)

So that makes zero legs on the floor.

With the added information about the chair, my answer is 8. 4 from the bed and 4 from the chair. My feet are on the floor, not my legs.

So really-where are the chickens-on the floor or the bed. And since they have little feet, no chicken legs on the floor.

@Laura14 So then we are looking at:

2 human legs

4 bed legs

4 chair legs

We are assuming the bed and the chair each have 4 legs.

Forget the feet and flying chickens.

10 legs.

@CrazyDaisy Someone did say that but feet is not acceptable. They do consider it to be your "legs" on the floor.
