I guess it was inevitable, but boy did I notice the increase in food prices this morning ! Usually it's a few cents here and there, not really noticeable, but it seemed most everything I purchased today was a lot higher in price. Well, at least I got everything on my list , sigh. 😟

Nope, I haven't noticed an increase in grocery prices but I have noticed still a LOT of empty shelves!!

Yes, stores say their operating costs have increased because of the pandemic, so higher prices can be expected. I don't buy meat, so am probably protected from the worst shocks.

I was in ShopRite this morning and the meat prices were sky high. Maybe because Fathers Day is close and barbecues are the norm? Large family packs of chicken were reasonable but I prefer smaller packages.

I'm pescatarian so I don't eat meat , but the rest of my family has been complaining about the increase in price of chicken, and steak. I've noticed a slight increase in seafood prices, and brown cage-free eggs, and am not happy. I'm just crossing my fingers it does not get worse.🤞😊

I guess it depends on what you buy. I have not noticed price increases... even chicken breast is still $1.99 a pound at Fred Meyer.

@QVCkitty1 I hadn't shopped much for several weeks as I worked to transition from south to north, but I know I paid way more for chicken and cereal than I had some weeks ago.

I usually buy store brand plain mini shredded wheats; paid 2.99 for those last time and this week had to buy Post at 4.79. Happy I'm feeding just me for those.

Did find level prices for most of the perishables I wanted.

Still missing at my Stop & Shop..Many varieties of Campbell's soups including my favorite Tomato Rice. The soup shelves look anemic.

As I said in other posts, my wife does the shopping since the w virus. She always haves me check the prices on the receipts. I don't see any vast increases, and the ones that are higher, are evened out by the ones that cost less.

Guessing the part of the country/state/county/city have a lot to do with pricing. I here meat products have increases beyond moderate, but I eat no meat or it's products, my wife very moderately.

No issues with prices here, and gas prices are super low, which makes up for those that do a lot of driving.

Yes -- increase in groceries, but evens out because we don't eat out as we did. I will say online grocery order and pick up means I do less emotional purchasing. I guess it evens out.

I'm sure before it's all said and done, everything will be going up in price. I saw on the news that some small businesses will be adding a surcharge for new cleaning procedures and the costs of the cleaning supplies, etc.

In NYC grocery prices have been through the roof for several weeks now, and we probably had the highest grocery prices in the country. The shelves are all very well stocked, but boy are we paying for it.

My home situation really had not changed at all. I'm buying the same groceries and noticing that, instead of spending $60-$70, I'm spending over $100 the last few trips.

I don't tend to notice all the individual prices that much, as I pick up the things I want to buy but when I see the total I am somewhat shocked, nonetheless.

Since things have really opened up here in Texas and the hoarding has stopped, I was still having a hard time finding some products on the shelves (mostly frozen veggies and other frozen items), and yes soups, and pasta also (oddly plenty of meat, chicken, eggs, milk, even some cleaning products have returned).....So I went to our grocery store's website and they had an option to send them feedback both complaints and compliments!.....

I wrote them about the shortages and got a nice email back saying that they would see that these items would be better stocked in the near future and would also pass on my comments to Corporate as well...... And lo and behold when I placed my Instacart order last week and this week those items were there!!!

I cant promise the same results since supply seems to differ by location in the U.S., but perhaps you can try what I did to see if you can get some results..... GOOD LUCK!!!

@QVCkitty1 ...... I had to laugh. I just got off the phone with my brother. He was ranting for over an hour about the prices going up at the stores. He said he went to to the stores today and most of shelves were still empty. He wanted a steak and some "hamburger". Said the cheapest prices were at Walmart . They wanted $17.00 for a steak and $6.00 a pound for "hamburger". This is a meat and potato person. From his mood I don't think he got his steak.

I've noticed the price increase for some time now. With food price increases, my daughter home and husband working from home...my grocery bill has doubled. I've been cooking 3 meals a day almost everyday since the start of the pandemic.

I do pickup every two or three weeks, and today is the day. They emailed my receipt already. Not a lot of other options if you don't go in person. At least all my other spending is way down.

@jeanlake, we didn't go out much at all before, so we don't have that difference. I do agree with you you online shopping (delivery for us) is close to what we'd been paying. And yes, it does remove emotional shopping, although I've been known to peruse the cookie/candy pages when hungry. :-)

That said, I can't wait until I feel comfortable to spend an hour or so in a market. I think it's going to be quite a while, though. Same with getting my roots done!
