I Have a Job Interview!

I have been trying to find a second job, a part-time one, to help supplement my income, and after many applications, I finally have an interview!

It's this Saturday.

The job is as a busser at a near by restaurant, which has just resumed in house dining.

If I can get this, then I can relax and breathe easier about my monthly expenses.

My rent is over $1,300 a month, then add in utilities, (Electricity, heat {gas} water, sewer, garbage, cable, internet, phone), gas for my car, car insurance, cat food, and I am just barely squeaking by.

Yes, I know and appreciate that others don't have any job, and yes, I feel for them, but it would be nice to be able to not worry about how I will be able to afford my monthly payments.

My youngest son has worked at a Walmart distribution center for the last couple of years and is over $20 an hour now.

He suggested to his friend to put in an application, and his friend was called in for an interview the very next day.

Right now is the time to apply if anyone is looking for work. The market might tighten up as the extra unemployment dollars dry up at the end of next month.

good luck 🤞🏻! I keep saying I'm getting a job - I truly miss working and think this is just what I need.

retired too early! I think I'd like working in a doctors office or medical field. In the Fall I'm going to "look".

I am happy for you because you are happy.... but, you know it will be a worry being exposed to people in an enclosed environment.....and Customers eating are not wearing masks while eating and chatting.... are you 65 or older? Sounds worrisome to me....with no vaccine on the horizon.

Just my two cents worth, if you are only going to be paid what a server is paid make sure there is some sort of agreement with the servers before hand as to how much they are going to tip you at the end of the night and that you aren't going to be chasing them at the end of the night for it.

As someone else previously mentioned, make sure you find out how the "tips" are shared % wise.

FWIW.....

When I eat at a restaurant, I check the table to make sure everything is so-so & nothing missing. I then check out the person bussing in my area. I go up to them & ask if they were the busser who bussed my table. If yes, I thank them & personally tip them. In my mind, I know they received the "tip" they deserved w/o it being "shared."

I'm not worried or afraid about being exposed.

They have installed a new ventilation system that meets ASHARE 62.1 ventilation standards, which means that they are constantly exchanging the room air, and are pulling the outside air in, plus they are have also upgraded their filters to MERV 13, which filters particles known to carry viruses , and if I get the job, I will be wearing a mask.

I'll be turning 50 later this year.
