Does anyone know if laundromats are still open ?

Have not been out of the house since mid March other than to get mail but need to wash my comforter and need use of a commerical washing machine. Very nervous about leaving the house and using a commercial machine during the pandemic.

Just gathering information for now.

@Reever They are near me. I think they are considered essential as people need to wash their clothes....

Don't you have a blanket to use if you use the comforter to keep warm? Who is coming over to see your bedroom incomplete? At this time I would not risk it. But to each his own.

The two near me (which are located directly next to dry cleaners) are not; neither are the drycleaners.

You'll have to call or check online because every State is different in what is considered essential & nonessential. Hard to believe that laundromats are closed in my State....a really dumb decision.

In my county, with rising infection and death rates, they have been closed since March. I live in a rental community, no laundry options are available here or nearby. But perhaps they are available for people who can drive outside our area. I do not know. (But liquor stores are open for pickup. )

Each state is different. Check your state's website to find out which businesses are essential & which are not.

@ReeverA couple weeks back when we had some 95 degree days and warm nights, I folded my heavy quilt away until I feel more comfortable. I decided it's not going to be one of my essentials to head to the laundromat now. Waiting for a few clear months - the one I would use is open.

Laudromats in NYS are open; they are considered essential businesses. Dry cleanters are not. Can't figure out the logic in that one!

I wouldn't be using a laundromat right now if all I was wanting to wash was a comforter.

If I had to use one on a regular basis for my clothing I would beg a family member or friend to let me use their washing machine and dryer for the time being.

Drive through cleaners are open although I haven't had the need to use them. I take heavy comforters to them rather than a laundromat when needed.

the laundromat in my town is open, times open that I don't know.

just wear your mask and since it is warmer now sit in car while wash is doing. Run in put in dryer, go back to car wait till dry.

so people in the area cant get there clothes washed but they cant get drunk. maybe its just me but something is just weong about that.

@Reever: I live in a building with a laudromat but will only use it first thing in the morning. I think it lessens my chances of being exposed to contaminated air, crowds. My suggestion would be to go to the laundromat first thing. Be the first customer if possible. By the time other people arrive, you're on your way out.

IN my state I am fairly certain that Dry Cleaners and Laundrymats are considered essential.
