I see it as the new reality. Risk is different for everyone based on their health, age, location etc. And different people are comfortable with different levels of risk.

I miss a lot of things too, but I'm in no hurry to get back to those things, until I feel there is a very low to no risk in doing them.

The way I see it, we are all going to have to take (and have been taking) some risk. We are going to have to go to some needed appointment, like a dentist or a doctor. We are all going to have to get gas or groceries at some point. We are all going to have some other things we consider essential that probably really aren't (gyms, hair salons, tattoos, restaurant eating etc.). I'm 'picking my battles' as they say in child rearing. I'm only going to take some many risks for the foreseeable future, and go where I need to, but pass on the 'want to' things. I'm good with letting others be the guinea pigs for this and the upcoming early vaccine. My plan is to take a 'wait and see' approach for awhile.

Still required to enter only through the main entrance. Check your temp and ask you a few questions.

Most of the nurses at the hospital know me so they don't accompany me to Hematology. Others that say they have an appointment are taken there by a nurse. Too many say they have an appointment, then were going up to visit a patient. So!!!

There is 1 thing that makes my visits better is parking. Don't have to hunt around for a place to park.

Good way to look at you going out. Me? Not cut and dried by any means. I'm not going to debate about numbers and percentages. They can slice in many directions. I get enough of that with my dad, God love him.

For me even .25% chance of any of that -- even just a slight chance of 2 weeks of barely being able to breathe or move around at home and the gigantic bother of upending my life in order to avoid infecting my husband -- would keep me out of a coffee shop. That's all based on a situatione where a worker at a coffee shop or another customer made a safety mistake while I was there and they infected me.

It's not a general chance every time you go out the door. It's based on the very real and possible misfortune of bumping into an unaware infected person who makes a mistake. And right now there's no way of identifying such people.

I don't know where those percentages came from either. But if you consider that there are 1,079,894 confirmed cases in the US with 62,672 deaths that amounts to 5.80% of those infected have passed away. In my town there are 436 confirmed case with 20 deaths..... that amounts to 4.59%. And if you take into account that there may be many people who have it but are asymptomatic .. the percentages are even lower.
