Teddy Bear Hunt

On my daily walks recently I noticed teddy bears in people's front windows and wondered what the significance was, so I finally thought to look it up. Fun for the kids who are home instead of in school and out on walks with their parents.

I have collected a lot of teddies over the years and just put 4 of the smaller ones (one is really tiny, a miniature) in my window. One is an angel bear, white with sparkly white wings.

I hope the kiddos enjoy seeing them. I love my bears.

My cat, Nelson, now has his eye on them. I wonder how long they might stay on the windowsill now.

I am thinking of putting a really big one in the space under the smaller 5.

around here they have been doing "animal hunts" instead of just teddy bears.

neighbors have been asked to put a stuffed animal or figurine in a front window that can easily be seen. when the children walk around, they can write down the animals they have seen (or have their parent write them down) and then do short reports on them for in home schooling.

Ah, well that sounds fun!

I do have some birds in other windows by my front door. But they might be too small for them to see.

It's hard to miss the giant bear.

I have lots of teddies (collected them when it was popular) and its been so much fun to put them in the windows. Makes me think about collecting more but I don't need more stuff.😄

They have been doing it in town also, and some of the participants put the bears outside and several were taken. And not returned.

I do think its a sweet idea though. Where we live no one would see the bears if I put any in the windows.

I don't know if anyone is doing it in my area, but there are a lot of little kids around here. I have a good sized picture of a teddy bear in my front window, and my back one, just in case.

I started a thread on this about a month ago under Mom to Mom.
It's progressed in my neighborhood, but the houses are far from the street. So, several have put photos on mailboxes, etc.

Next door community e mails can tell parents where the bears or photos are to help since our area is large.
My bears stay inside on their beds!

I have seen a few when I have walked. I enjoy seeing them myself! A little something positive! I love teddybears! I have a Pooh bear that I've had for years -- wouldn't part with him!!!

I put a bear in our window a number of weeks ago. I will admit, I like seeing new additions each day when I walk and do a bear hunt of my own. lol

Since I started noticing the bears I have also been looking every day on my walk for new ones.

It makes me smile to see them. I did see a new one this morning!
