In Pa we lived near an Air Force base and on 9/11 suddenly many blackhawk helicopters , flying very low , with guys legs etc hanging out and holding guns flew right over our house. They looked just like a silhouette against the sky and , i agree with the OP , they are awesome. We did not know at the time that an airliner had crashed about 60 miles away from us in rural Pa.

Awesome Sight!

Yesterday at work we had a very impressive and awesome event happen.

I was sitting in front of a window, and I heard a very distinct, loud "whump, whump, whump" of helicopters. Then, I saw six blackhawk and two apache helicopters land, one right after the other. As they were coming in, in my mind, I was hearing, "Ride of the Valkyries".

They were making a pit stop to refuel, on their way to Fort Louis, in Washington state.

As the crew came in to the airport, the guys headed for the men's room. I could just imagine some guy in there facing the wall, then seeing all of these army guys coming in. "Holy krap! Are we being invaded?!" It was the only time I saw a line for the men's room. Usually, the line is outside the ladies room!

After refueling, the crew went back out to their helicopters, and prepared to take off.

After all the checks, and whatnot, they taxied out to the taxi-way, in single line formation. When they were all out on the taxi-way, I thought that the first one would take off, followed by the second one, and so on down the line. Nope, on command, they all lifted off in unison, at the same time. I was so impressed by that, I couldn't help but to exclaim, "Wow! Cool!", and it was. I had a ear to ear grin on my face. Seeing that made me feel proud to be an American. Then, they were gone.

Seeing those six blackhawks, and two apaches come in, and then take off, is something that I will not soon forget.

I love our military! And I love our aircraft!

To see the blackhawks and apaches , OMGosh, unbelievable. Heck, I get cold chills and tear up at the flyovers at races.

Way cool, Yuban!!

Wow...I got goosebumps from just reading your story (and the goosebumps were from your story...not from the temperature!) Bet you didn't have that sight on your bucketlist!

Sorry, but I get a little emotional about our military, and have tears in my eyes just from reading your account. I would have loved to see that!

Good a time as any to remember to thank all who serve or have served for their service to our nation.
