A United States flag was put on the top of the Matahorn in the Swiss Alps to show support for the US, the country with the greatest number of cases from the virus.

I know, I can be naiive and gullible

at times or wishful thinking?

I'd like to think it was real but I guess even if it isn't and is photoshopped it's a nice sentiment

The US flag and the flag of India were projected onto the Matterhorn.

ZERMATT, Switzerland : Light artist Gerry Hofstetter projected the flag onto the 14,692 foot side of the iconic Matterhorn portion of the Swiss Alps. It was part of a nightly series designed to show the town of Zermatt's support for everyone suffering and those fighting the pandemic.

He's been lighting up the Matterhorn with different images each day since March 24. The American flag was projected late Wednesday.

"Our thoughts are with all American people at this unprecedented time. We look forward to meeting again at the foot of the Matterhorn, we are all in this together," the tourism organization Zermatt Matterhorn wrote on its Facebook page.

The mountain has been lit up with the flags of Japan, Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Italy and others in recent weeks along with the hashtags #hope and #allofus.

The popular tourist destination also projected messages encouraging people to stay home and guests to "Dream now -- Travel later.

"We know that you are longing to visit us. Soon we can meet again. For the moment, however, health is our priority," Zermatt Matterhorn wrote on its website. "But dreaming is not prohibited. We support you with great pictures in this travel-free time and send you our best wishes from the Matterhorn.

That was an exact quote from a reporter on a major channel, not in the article.

I did not know this, that the US has the most confirmed cases but you can read it on every news, website online everywhere.

This assumes China, Iran, and other authoritarian nations have accurately reported their number of coronavirus infections and deaths. China tried to cover up and engaged in disinformation to the detriment of the rest of the world.

Every time a U.S. news outlet proceeds as though China was telling the truth, the CCP’s primary goal of obscuring its responsibility for the pandemic is advanced. Anytime anyone hears someone praise China's reaction to Coronavirus, remember they welded people's homes shut and let them starve to death.

Yes, we do have the most confirmed cases, along with a really, really low per capita testing rate. Not a distinction we can be proud of. 🙁

I hope that someday we will be able to return the kind sentiments of support from our Allies.

Here is another pretty one from London--the tallest ferris wheel-(yikes!) lit up in blue to show support for their NHS (National Health Service)

Really neat to see countries around the world lighting up, playing music

so many things to show support and encouragement to their own and other countries.

@on the bay Those are spectacular. He's a true artist with light. I'd like to see the Titanic that he projected onto an iceberg. I thought that mountain was a bit big for any flag ever made.

Nice sentiment, but the claim that the U.S. has the most covid cases is as false as China's claim last week that it has only .33% of those cases.

Well, whatever the reality for those that focused on who had the most cases, (it's not a contest)

it is saying to Americans, we are thinking of you.

All these lights all over the world, everyone experiencing suffering and wanting to say, we are thinking of all of you, all of us.

Almost every country affected, showing support in some way and that is a beautiful thing, for once, no political leanings or trying to prove each others views, just a caring very human sentiment all these tributes.
