I will be looking to see if you get a few responses. My Maytag washer is 25 years old and still going strong. I am sure that I will be in the market for a new one too. I have liked my Maytag, but have heard that the new ones aren't as good. Now I need to knock on wood. I have a top loading one & want another one just like it.

I replaced my 23 yr. old Maytag with the Speed Queen. I think it was a good choice, I also had heard negative things about the new Maytags.

@Twins Mom Got the commercial model Speed Queen a few months ago. Had to wait until my 8 year old Maytag finally flooded my kicthen one too many times, and I LOVE it. It is quiet and washes like a dream. What a pleasure to have a washer just off the kitchen that does not shake, rattle and roll......ever. I think you will be totally amazed.

I just bought a new Maytag. I’ve been going to a laundromat for years before this. The commercial laundries I’ve used have always either had Maytags or Speed Queens.

I just had my 7 year old Kenmore washing machine repaired AGAIN. The repairman said if I decided to go with a new washing machine the next time mine has issues (so far, he has repaired it 3 years straight), to buy a Speed Queen. He repairs them all, and he said the Speed Queen is by far the best on the market. The next time my washer goes on the blink.........I am getting a new Speed Queen.

@Twins Mom I'm her neighbor and went along in February when she bought her set because I thought I might need to replace mine soon. The sales lady showed us all the cycles but said many people use the most basic cycle (it might be called eco if I recall correctly). Those Speed Queen washers sure are heavy compared to other models. I ended up having my Whirlpool repaired for $194 so I never did buy a new set. Just because of the five year warranty (one model had eight years), I'd probably buy Speed Queen next time.

got ours last year.....2019 model.

could not be happier with it. love the top loading washing machine, love that i can adjust the water level. love the dryer and it works well. really appreciate the 7 year warranty on the set that we purchased. easy to use and relatively quiet.

my Maytag is 32 years old. My dryer is 37 But I will get Speed Queen for sure when the time comes I am whispering this, because I do not want Mr and Mrs Maytag to hear this Shhhhh

Purchased the Speed Queen washer model AWN63RSN115TW01 and dryer model ADG4BRGS115TW01 on 3/2/2020. I wanted a top loader that would be big enough to wash our king size flannel sheets, comforters, etc. I can't say enough about Speed Queen. This is the first time I have purchased this brand and my only regret is that I didn't years ago. Recommend 100%.

There are three things I do not like about my Speed Queen washer and dryer. (I previously had Kenmore.) When you open the lid while the washer is filling, the water stops. I liked using the water flow to clean the liquid detergent out of the cap. And, what is "normal" wash is water-saving, so I have to use perma press or heavy duty. Finally, my biggest complaint is regarding the dryer lint trap. It's located at the bottom of the door opening. When you open the door and the tumbling clothes drop, it seems one always lands in the lint!

You use the water flow like I do and that would bug me too. Of utmost importance is quality since most washers can't seem to get the washing done well. When I replaced my LG top of line that lasted 4 years I replaced with basic GE and I like being able to use water flow and adding water. Washing is fine. DD has machine that broke and I am thinking of giving it to her and getting SQ.

how old is your speed queen?

yes, on mine the water stops when you open the lid, but that is not a big deal to me. sometimes my kids just throw the the cap into the machine along with the clothing.

i do have water level choices on my speed queen, even if i am using the normal cycle.

What I would consider the "normal" setting is called "eco" and it is water-saving. The clothes always have dry patches.

On the other settings, such as perma press, heavy duty, delicate, I can select the water level.

The old machines do last very long. We have a Kenmore heavy duty

washer since 1991. Well it was my husbands even before I knew

him.

Last weekend I used it in the morning and in the evening we spotted

some water on the floor. My husband, who is handy with just about

everything, took it apart and found out that the pump was bad and

needed a replacement.

So for $11 we bought another one online. Got it in 3 days and I already

did several loads of laundry. Like new again. Hated to part with it and

glad I didn't have to for long!
