Eww---Dead Stinkbug

I just found a dead stinkbug floating in my half empty iced latte.

I am so grossed out.

Here in SE Pennsylvania the stink bug invasion keeps escalating. They start appearing here in November when the weather gets cold. They love to enter the warmth of a house at the window frames, fireplace walls, doorways, etc. They are the size of an index fingernail and are grayish brown. They try to fly and make a lot of noise as they do so. They appear to "jump" on you because their flying ability is limited. They suggest if you are going to "catch"one, you should get a tissue and surround it rather than crush it. If you crush it, it will emit a horrible smell--stink is more descriptive. There is a chemical treatment which needs to be applied late August / early September. The second exterior treatment follows a few weeks later. It does work: I've gotten it for the last three years and keep track of number caught. Each year the total has gone down. They seem to only appear when it becomes bitterly cold....like today ( 0 degrees ).

one thing about our "friend" the stinkbug....he/she is easily picked up and flushed down the toilet...with their limited mobility....all one needs to do is walk up to them...and snag them with a tissue....

I got my sister a Bugzooka (Amazon) for Christmas. It suc*ks up bugs by vacuum (no batteries) without killing them. They can be ejected outside or into a toilet, specifically for stink bugs.

I stopped buying Green Giant canned veggies because two cans I purchased had stink bugs in them. That company won't enter this house again.

I think you overreacted. It's not like the bug was poisonous. They are harmless, just a minor annoyance. I had a tiny spider drop down from the ceiling of my bathroom onto my toothbrush the other night. I just shooed him off and went on with my life.

Darn it, I wish I had your address so you could have eaten the peas that smelled like stink bugs. I wouldn't of had to waste any food. Darn it!!! I could have gone on with my life also then.

I don't eat canned vegetables so thanks but no thanks. If it smelled like a smashed stink bug then you didn't overreact and I'm sorry I said you did.
