They track new cases and they can tell that way..To say it is flat means there have been no new cases for a period of time, I think

What that means is all the strict stay at home measures have paid off and brought you to where you are right now. You will not be able to maintain your gain if you send everyone back to work.

None of us is out of the woods until we know who has or had it by testing and we get a vaccine. Michigan probably has only had about 1% of your population have the virus.

The point was to pace the infection rate so as not to overwhelm your hospitals. Which means if everyone goes back 99% will still be able to catch it. We have no immunity and you will lose all you have gained.

Peaked doesn't mean cases will go to zero now. It just means that since everyone has stayed home the virus infection rate has slowed. Hospitals will not be overwhelmed.

We will not have a "zero" until we get a vaccine in about a year.

Lockdown means your Governor is using the strongest measures to keep the spread from swamping the medical team.

We are lucky to have a Gov who took it seriously very early too. We have been shutdown since the beginning of the 2nd week of March!! And it has paid off. Only a vaccine will protect those who haven't gotten it.

@Mz iMac I checked out a map of all the counties last night. There are little freckles of confirmed cases all over the lower peninsula and a few dots on the southern shore of the UP.

I think Gov Whitmer will continue the Stay at Home.

@cherry The numbers for the entire country may go up temporarily. The CDC announced earlier today they are changing the way they count cases and deaths. Now all probable cases and deaths will be counted, not just those people who tested positive.

MI is still logging 2,000 new cases a day. That's still cause for alarm if they want to reopen the state.

I'm fortunate to be able to work from home but if they want to seriously reopen businesses May 1st, this girl will prob say I'm out. 🤤

What I would like to know is how did so many nurses and doctors get the disease when they have the masks that the general public does not have, the N95.....

While I can't wait for the country to reopen.......how will our inferior masks protect us if the N95's didn't protect them?

@bandaidinmysalad: My best guess is those doctors and nurses who contracted the virus may have been those who didn't have the proper protective gear. Unfortunately, many hospitals are experiencing a severe shortage of masks, gloves, gowns, etc.

@bandaidinmysalad I don't think we should assume that everyone had masks or the proper gear. I heard a nurse in Detroit say she had 1 mask to use all the time, it was cloth, and was wearing a garbage bag poncho...
