I submitted the IRS online form but mistakenly submitted the wrong Routing No...Now what ? Site wont let me submit another one til tomorrow..geez !

I mistakenly used my deposit slip routing number but my correct checking account number...

I'm confused. My routing number on my checks and deposit slip has the same routing number on them? Yours should also be the same?

You will probably have to call them. I would not wait I would call now.

mine is not the same...shows my correct acct number however but different routing number...what number do i call...irs really going to answer?

@89135 I had just completed my info before coming here and seeing this thread. I notice there is an FAQ's page (saw the link while giving my direct deposit info) but I didn't click on it. Have you tried there to see if anyone has asked what to do if wrong info entered?

If I had to guess I would say it would be a very long hold time trying to call the IRS this week/month. You might be better off waiting until tomorrow to re-enter. Sorry that happened.

@colleena I wanted to make sure you knew that the link had been activated on the IRS website. Can't remember if it was friends or family you were trying to help, but it's there now and you can upload their direct deposit info.

@89135,, the routing number may not be a problem. Do a search on the phrase: bank deposit slip routing number different from check routing number

You should get a lot of returns, some that are general information and perhaps even one from your specific bank.

My bank informed me that if you get your SS check direct deposit, the check would come that way. I don't expect to get anything because I don't have to pay taxes. Very low income.

If you are getting monthly Social Security you don't need to do anything. Your check will be direct deposit.

I would also check the IRS.gov website, they may have a FAQ/Q&A section that may mention your problem.

You may have better luck with their website than getting someone on the phone.

@qvcaddition @sann ..Yes I do get SS and I kinda thought I would get a check but just thought I would do the online thing anyway...so hopefully I will get check..thx.. will have to wait and see and I did check the 'facts' and nothing was mentioned about entering wrong info..

@Marp..I looked now at the bottom of my routing slip and it does say 'do not use deposit ticket routing # for automatic payments"...so we will see...just mistake on my part..

@qvcaddition Even if you don't have to file taxes, you should still receive the payment if your income is below the thresholds.

Thamks to everyone for the replies. It would be a god sent. Spent a lot on food this month. I have been fortunate that sons are shopping for me, but not where i normally shop and get better prices. Spent more in a month than six months on food. Just very lucky to get it and for them, so the money will help to offset. The stores have increased their prices. One store I go to get an item that cost 2.39, my son got for 5.99. Becuase of my age, I don't go out except to walk the dog. It's just something we have to put up with. I would really be in trouble if I didn't have them. The stores I go to don't do delivery.

@qvcaddition, you receive social security so I think you will get a stimulus check. I don't think it matters if you don't pay taxes. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
