Can't Trust Instacart

I have never used Instacart, but there was a segment on our local news last night about a lady who ordered $200 worth of groceries and never received her order. On top of that, they said that part of the terms of service is that you do not hold Instacart responsible for anything that goes wrong.

Don't think I'll be using that service.

the slightest issue.

I've used it numerous times and I have nothing but phenomenal things to say about it. The shoppers I've had have been fabulous! I highly recommend it. Now if you do contactless delivery (which I do), you cannot hold Instacart liable. They text you a photo of the groceries at your door when you do contactless delivery.

This could apply to any business. if true, the "shopper" was just a bad apple. I wouldn't hold it against the company.

We received our first delivery today. Although we went through our supermarket's website, they use Instacart. We were very pleasantly surprised.

We received many texts regarding avaiibility while the shopper was in the store. was there for two hours before getting into a long line.

We gave him some cash to supplement the tip we left for him online.

Two friends had issues with orders not being filled. In both cases, the supermarkets issued a credit for the inconvience. You get your money back.

I’ve used Instacart perioically for two years. On the rare occasion that there’s been a problem with an order they’ve always gone out of their way to correct it and make me happy. Can’t complain. I used him for the first time this week since January. Aside from the four day lead time instead of same day, service was fine. A couple substitutions that the shopper texted me about as she was pulling the order and I approved.

@suzyQ3 Yes, they text me they are en route. I receive a text photo of the groceries at my door and then I go get them. I love it. I'm ever so grateful for this service.

My phone app shows me what’s being shopped and when it’s on the way. Click on the map and i see where the driver is en route. Even with contactless, I know when the driver arrives. No need to worry about anything getting stolen.

@Icegoddess I ordered a couple of weeks ago, received someone else's order, Instacart wouldn't answer their phone, our grocery store wouldn't reimburse and said they had repeated problems with Instacart and that they were possibly going on strike.

Luckily I used AmEx, filed a dispute and received credit the following day.

Maybe it differs from one area to the next?

Why wouldn't the company be responsible? The shopper is their employee; they screened and hired him/her to represent their service. I'd be darned if I'd let $200 go without raising a super stink. Take it up with your credit card company then call a local TV station with a story.

If you are using Instacart to Social Distance yourself here is my experience. I had a grocery delivery yesterday from Instacart and a van load of people delivered the groceries. I had contactless delivery so the delivery person rang the doorbell and left the groceries on my doorstep. I glanced out the front window and saw the van with a woman driving and someone in the front passenger seat and others in the back seat. I could not see the age of the passengers but perhaps it was a single mom who needs a job and had her kids along with her. But I wasn't happy about it and left a note on Instacart's website. I've had other Instacart deliveries but didn't see who delivered. I'll probably pay more attention now to who is making the Instacart deliveries.

I belong to Instacart Express and love the service. This is my future as far as I'm concerned. I plan on using this service for a long time.

Instacart employees can't trust people who order either.

When you order, the shoppers can see how many items you ordered and they can see how much of a tip they will receive.

Some people have ordered 150 items and left a $40 tip. That way they are confident that their order will be filled ASAP because the shoppers want and need that tip. They go to the front of the line with the shoppers.

After the groceries are delivered, the customer goes back in and removes the tip, so the shopper did all that work for a few dollars paid to them by Instacart.

That lack of trust goes both ways.

@CarmieI just noticed yesterday that you could change the tip after Instacart delivery and I thought that isn't fair. I guess if mistakes were made on the order they want to give people the chance to change the tip amount but I bet it is more like what you described that people misuse this feature. I sure hope not though.

@karabeth Unfortunally, it is happening. I read an acticle about it yesterday. Many of the instacart shoppers are single mothers. They are complaining that this is happening frequently.

They want instacart to make it a mandatory 10% tip for everyone for the COVID 19 period. They did say that some people give them cash tips in an envelope instead of adding it to the instacart bill, but many people are stiffing them with no tip at all.

It is awful that they are shopping and putting their health and lives on the line so people can safely stay at home and they are not paid well and count on their tips, which are sometimes withheld.

Those instacart shoppers are risking their lives to provide for those who wish to protect theirs. To cheat them is beyond shameful and those removing tips should be banned from using the service in future.

We should thank and be grateful for delivery services such as Instacart, Shipt, etc. Their employees put their life on the line each day in those grocery stores all day long while we sit home safe and sound. God bless them.

Just a bad apple?!?! LOL If I paid $200.00...somebody better come up with some groceries...and fast!!!
