@KarenQVC I think many of us will continue to do social distancing and maybe even masks long after the restrictions are lifted. Dr. Fauci has also said handshakes (and I'm assuming hugging) should be out for awhile.

Yes! I am so sick of being at home. I have masks and gloves and will gladly wear them. I want to be back at work.

Most probably not. At least not for a while. I would be worried about my husband for sure. If you notice, they talk about having testing to identify clusters and then do contact tracing. I don't think I want to take a chance of being one of those in the "cluster" and then possibly passing it on to my husband or someone else.

We are both retired so it isn't like we need to go back to work. Although I do have family I would love to see. Just depends on the data in our area at the time I guess.

I agree, when we finally get the approval to go out and about again I am going to be very cautious about normal life again. It's going to take me a while to really feel safe again and I plan to continue being very careful.

Until there is an effective vaccine, no one will really feel safe. Hopefully, it does not morph into something else making a vaccine ineffective.

Hi @tansy! Heck, I don't know that you want my go ahead. I am not sure I will even know. LOL!

Currently, you can track the cases in that county @tansy on the covid-19 tracker. In all honesty, I would wait until the # of new cases really drops and the death rate signficantly drops as well. When both are really down and stay down for a period of 5-6 days you may be able to take a deep sigh.

But I would still be watchful and careful. If you can, limit going out in public. Limit unknown contacts. I know you would probably still need to go to doctor appointments, but I would still take hand sanitizer, wear a motorcycle helmet, don't touch anything....stand out in the hallway rather than sit next to someone in the waiting room............SEE? You maybe don't want me advising you. LOL!

And by the way @KarenQVC, for me, I am not holding my breath on the mass testing part. They still at this point don't have enough tests now. The testing has been a miserable failure. And it was so very important. But here we are........

They are working on serology to identify those with antibodies. That might help some to identify those that are protected.

The worrisome part is that if this goes according to past pandemics....there is almost always a second wave. St. Louis in the 1918 Spanish flu pandemic demonstrated that you can flatten the curve, but then you spread your cases out and usually have a second wave. And right now I just don't have confidence that they will have testing set up and ready to go to "catch" that second wave in some areas. And my area could be one of those where the second wave occurs.

The virus doesn't go away, it still remains. Just a question of catching it where it pops up again. So yes, I just think I will be very cautious for some time to come.

😂 Actually I do very much want someone knowledgeable to take charge of me and the husband 😜 I think I need to reschedule a couple of appointments AGAIN though.

Yes, we'll continue to "lay low" for awhile, which isn't drastically different from our "normal" life. Both retired, no kids, rest of family far away (although we keep in touch often by phone several times a week).

We'd pared down dinner out with friends after I had a stroke several years ago and couldn't walk properly for awhile (now phone friends).

Just miss grocery shopping a bit - Did I say that!?!? LOL Walmart pickup is a Godsend, but like to pick my stuff.

(Humor) But I'll soon need to socially distance myself from DH. Fighting or underfoot? No more than usual.

HE pointed out the other day that we are increasingly finishing each others thoughts or saying "I was just going to say that!!" Considering we have a similar twisted, wicked sense of humor (it's how we get through bad times) I guess it's not the worst thing...scary, though.

Take care of yourselves, everyone. Please?

@tansy, if it helps...I am probably going to have a doctor's appointment for DH rescheduled and it is scheduled for May1. But at this time, there is just no way. If they want to do a telehealth appointment, that will work...but no way he will be going in even if they are open for regular appointments at that time.

I've been home 2 whole days since this mess started & I'll be happy to be home for awhile after things improve & the stay at home order is lifted...after that happens it would be wise for anyone with an existing condition to continue to be very cautious. Be well.

Who knows what the real number are? I suspect there is a massive under-reporting of covid 19 cases in the U.S. and Canada as regular people can't readily get tested.

I will do what I need to do whether I like it or not. So I am thinking , when they give the go ahead to loosen up, I will keep going to wait for a while. I am practicing social distancing, wearing gloves, doing the sanitizing packages, no visitors in my home or social gatherings for a long time I think social distancing is just a good thing. This obsessive hand washing I have acquired is playing havoc with my skin though. I think I developed eczema. That's why I wear gloves a lot at my house when receiving things from The outside world.

What weighs heavily on my mind is this. Why throw away all the sacrifices I and my family have made, and why distance myself from all I love for some reckless moment, or return to going public too soon....only to get sick or worse.

We will approach any change slowly and with apprehension.

Less than 1% of our population has been tested. And it was governors of states that directed our policies, and it will be the governors to change their directives. I look forward to seeing my family once again, and we so miss them. But we realize the virus is in charge and doesn’t obey anyone.

The scary thing is because this is a new virus, not a heck of a lot is known. In a year they will know more...but for now I don't want to be a guinea pig for te data and statistics. I have a compromised immune system, although I have been pretty hardy. I just have too many painful spinal and joint issues to get sick. I am 72 and not looking for a fight. Lol
