Going for a ride?

Am I the only one who gets in the car when it is nice out and just goes for a ride? It is only me and I have no contact with others unless I stop for coffee and I do wipe the container off. Guess it helps with the cabin fever. Anyone else?

@wakefield64 Yes! Hubby and I do it now...take our dog...traffic is light and gas is cheap 👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I really enjoyed being in the grocery store yesterday!

Can't believe that since I spent half of my career in one, shopping for all my Adv Nutrition classes since I couldn't teach design all day. Think I'm losing it........

Yup!! I do go out for drives & some food runs. The fresh air helps!!

My 85 year old mother lives with my husband and me. I try to take her for a drive through the Indiana countryside at least once a week. I think it's good for her mental health, as well as for mine.

Here in PA a young woman was going for a ride and she got fined for it. Rides are not essential outings.

She was stopped for a tail light being out. Her fine was over $200.

I'm in for the duration, barring an emergency. But if it's okay, I can't imagine that a ride would be a problem.

If you are stopped, just say your own your way to some "essential" business. If you are in your car alone or with your SO, big deal. No one is being harmed.

@ECBG @trips to the grocery store haven been a nightmare. I have to wait on line to get in, they don’t have half of what I want, you must follow the yellow lines and circles, long lines at the checkout, people are starting to lose their tempers. It’s getting to the point where I don’t even want to go.

@Carmie That doesn't sound legal at all. Yes she can get a citation for the taillight but not for just being in her car.

I haven't been for a ride yet but now that the weather is getting nicer I think DH and I will go for a ride just in our county....maybe bring a lunch or snack along in the car.

My county in PA has a mapped out driving tour of covered bridges (there are 13 of them) which we did a few years ago. I think we might do part of it again.

@Carmie , Last week we went for a motorcycle ride on local country roads. Over the weekend we went for a short car ride. After hearing about that woman being fined I’m afraid to do this anymore. 😮

@haddon9 I think I am familiar w/that part of Pennsy. Is that Bucks County? or thereabouts? Some covered bridges in NJ as well - such a beautiful part of the State. People don't realize.

Sounds like a nice thing to do for an afternoon.

@ahoymate, if you live in an area that prohibits car rides (I doubt it's widespread), then you should obey and not lie.

Just got home from a drive. I was alone and enjoyed the 15 minutes of being out.

The PA woman was fined for driving during the stay-at-home order. In PA we are supposed to leave our homes for food, doctors appointments, essential work, etc. She responded that she was going for a ride when asked.

According to the article that I read, the police are told to use discretion, either warn or issue citations. She received a citation. She is going to fight it.

@Jordan2 Just a thought. Even though it may be a few more minutes, is there a store in a smaller community where you could shop, assuming you're in a larger community?

@Kalli She is going to fight the ticket and I think she will win. That trooper that gave her the ticket is a nut, IMO

I am the wife and mother of a police officer and still think he was over zealous and it wasn't necessary.

I too, would have said I was going to the store or to pick up some food...then I would have stopped at Wendy's for a Frosty.

You can google the story. It happened in Red Lion, PA.
