sanitizing wipes and sprays

I can not find ANYTHING. Do you think the suppliers will EVENTUALLY get caught up where the public has access to some? They want us to wipe down everything etc, but if you can not buy it how do you do this... I can not even find the rubbing alcohol that I use to buy at the dollar store for a buck ANYWHERE.

Most likely not for a long while.

A doctor on this news this morning said you do not have to use a disinfectant, using soap washing countertops, etc will work just as well.

It really depends on how bad the virus is in your specific town, county and/or state.

I have also noticed what is "out of stock" online, you can find the items in the store.

Yesterday, I went on a BJ's run for 2 neighbors who needed adult "flushable" wipes. BJ's had none. Yet, I found a bunch of baby "flusable" wipes over in the baby department. Go figure.

Went to Walgreens. They were out of baby "flushable" wipes but had plenty of adult flushable wipes. Clerk told me "flushable" wipes are the new TP.

Yeah right! I am beginning to think "they" will say anything to prevent us from worrying when actually there aren't enough supplies for everyone-masks, lysol, clorox wipes, gloves, ventilators, tests, antidotes.

I can see washing hands for 20 seconds to offset any germs but soap and water on counter tops?

That wouldn't make me feel safe.

I just feel like we can try our best and after that it's a c....p shoot.

@Mz iMac Please note that NO WIPES even those called flushable should ever be flushed down the Toilet. It just causes problems for the city sewer people and they can cause clogs in your own sewer pipes costing a lot of money to fix. ONLY FLUSH TOILET PAPER.

@Mz iMac, even if you aren't flushing wipes if your neighbor is it can still cause problems with your system. They lead to blockages in the sewer lines which can lead to backups in homes sharing the main.

ETA: I've been hearing PSAs about flushing wipes. Officials are reminding us to only flush the 3 Ps--pee, p**p and paper.

Since I don't buy wipes or sprays, ITA like what's wrong with a good soap and water solution followed by air drying for kitchen and bath surfaces?

A bit of Clorox in a spritzer bottle with water and a few drops of tea tree or Thieves oil. Works. Cheap.

Do some research on pool shock as a dupe for chlorine bleach.

I swear, some of ya'll must have never faced any hard times ever that forced you to improvise.

@ SeaMaiden - You can mix a little bit of Chlorox (like a teaspoon) with water in a spray bottle. Or spray the mixture on a clean wash cloth and use as a wipe. I can't find any wipes in the store either.

I don't think it's that many haven't "been forced to improvise" but that many do not have access to all those alternatives.

I know many ladies who do not have a computer or iphone.

Just because someone has access to all kinds of things doesn't mean everyone else has.

I do use vinegar a lot for cleaning and disinfecting and that I can still find.

And that will have to do.

I think if we let people tell their stories, you'd be surprised at how many people had to improvise and go through many things we never would have imagined.

It is never a wise thing to assume anything about any of us or our neighbors or even family and what they are going through.

@Mz iMac Please, please warn your neighbors against flushing any "flushable" wipes. They will clog plumbing and a plumber will have to be called. Even our local public utilities director has issued a warning against using them. They are creating a big problem in cities nowdays as they do not disolve.

@Tessa Mendoza You cannot find anything except bleach toilet bowl cleaner online or for pickup where I live. Anything!

Since I will not go in a store, I'll do without and keep trying to snag some! No antibacterial anything is available an no hand sanitizer that is some weird brand I never heard of! So I'm staying put!

We do have a couple of jars of Clorox wipes for the mail and packages but that's it. It's my new hobby finding some!

Suppliers will eventually catch up. Problem is that they have production lines that may be configured for some other product when the rush occured. Now they are trying to secure items need to change prduction to the needed wipes.

There will be limited flavors available of Doritios for the forseeable future. If they limit it to 1 or 2 flavors they do not have to take a assembly line down and can produce more faster.

Happened to my daughter and son-in-law. They are just finishing up with basement repairs because of someone flushing clorox wipes or baby wipes.

I will just say this for what it is or isn't worth.

I am 64 years old. While I occasionally, and I do mean occasionally, through the years, have had a random pack of Wet Ones in my car, I have never been a sanitizing wipe user and had never bought them until just before the sold out frenzy began. I also have never bought a can of Lysol. If too much of that is sprayed, I can't handle it. I feel like I can't breathe.

I bought 2 travel packs of Clorox Wipes (Fresh scent) and one larger pack (lemon scent). I absolutely hate the smell of them. I've only used some of the Fresh Scent ones so far. Hate them.

If I need to clean something at home I use soap and water or 409 or something like that. Again, I have used some of the wipes since all this started but I hate them. I feel like the smell and the film linger.

I keep a really clean house and have done fine through the years illness wise and I'm hoping that holds, but I can't imagine buying as many wipes as I hear about people buying. Even before the virus was an issue.

I have bought multiple travel packs of Wet Ones lately, unscented. I know it's not the same thing, but they truly are unscented but that's what I use, For the most part, when I come out of a store until I can come straight home and wash my hands. I have used the Clorox wipes in the car a few times and can't wait to come home and get my hands washed.

I got really lucky last Sunday. Arrived at the supermarket a few minutes after it opened at 7 a.m. Got one Microban spray disinfectant and the only container of Clorox wipes (there were also a few store brand wipes on the shelf-not many!) I was pleasantly surprised to see them and I expect they were gone in minutes.

Previous to that I made my own using bleach & water or peroxide & water. in a spray bottle.

How about a steam cleaner? This helps to sterilize without chemicals and it works even better.

Your neighbors will have big problems if they start flushing those wipes. That will cause major blockage of sewer, etc.
