Alcohol Sales up 55%!

Local news station says

"Americans seem to be drinking their way through the coronavirus."

Reminded me of that post someone posted here that we would either become great cooks or drunks!

Then said asking why🤔-

Not hard to figure out!

But then will suggest other ways. Maybe ice cream?😬

Yes I know there are many other more wonderful healthy ways and now I'm going to take a nap while we all figure it out! Here's to us all!

It's going to lead to alcoholism in some people. I don't drink because alcoholism is in my family. So it's a serious matter for me, and I fear for the pain that some people will suffer.

My husband decided that we needed banana bread. I have no clue where that came from. So a couple days ago, he made banana chocolate bread. It's now in the freezer in case we go into starvation mode.

We are all losing it.

Well people cannot go and have dinner and drink or to a bar.

It is expected that sales will rise that sharply. Food, baby supplies, cleaning goods have to be up 110%.

My take, is that alcohol is the new toilet paper. People who usually purchase it anyway, are just stocking up now, in case it becomes hard to get, or they can't get out to get it.

It has no expiration date, so they can always use it long after this crisis ends

The liquor stores in Pennsylvania are closed; they're all state stores. I believe wine can still be had at supermarkets.

beer and wine can be purchased in supermarkets

Maybe! Before my job with a non profit got suspended, one of our clients was a state liquor store employee, and said they were selling a lot of a high alcohol liquor called "ever pure". This was when hand sanitizers sold out everywhere, and people were first attempting to make their own

OMG, yes and they are boarded up too with big pieces of plywood on the windows. My son told me that he was shopping the last night the state stores were allowed to be open in the same strip mall.

He described people loading cases of bottles into their cars. I guess they were hoarding. I wonder how long it will take for them to drink their way through it.

I was at the grocery store last week. I noticed they had plenty of wine on the shelf.

Many people from PA were driving to Maryland to get their alcohol. I hope they know that if they get caught, there will be heafty fines.

Do ya' think? I've told people to invest in baby products, liquor (any kind), weight loss companies on the stock market.

When this thing is gone that's what Americans will go to and be doing.

I can't imagine the amount of credit card bills people are going to get (buying tons of food and toilet paper...charging them).

I don't think people realize that THEY need to contact their creditors and make arrangements for late payments.

I heard it again on TV that if you have bills coming due, call the mortgage company and all of those you owe money to and let them know your predicament.

EVERCLEAR. Is a high proof alcohol 195 - proof. Several states no longer sell it because of related alcohol poisoning.

As someone who was raised by a functioning alcoholic and has too many family members who ARE member of AA or should be, this is a very, very difficult time for them.

I've always said it must be so hard to stay sober if you are an alcoholic in this country.

Everywhere you go you see people drinking socially. On TV shows people always have glasses of wine close by.

Anyway, as I've said another item that's staying open are the marijuana companies.

I fail to understand how alcohol and marijuana is a necessity of life.

But then what do I know?
