6 Week Old Covid-19 Victim Dies

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — A newborn baby from Hartford has become Connecticut’s first infant coronavirus-related death.

On Wednesday, Governor Ned Lamont said the unresponsive newborn, who was just under 7-weeks-old, was taken to the hospital late last week and could not be revived.

The child was then tested for COVID-19, and on Tuesday night, officials received the positive results.

“This is absolutely heartbreaking,” Lamont said in a tweet. “We believe this is one of the youngest lives lost anywhere due to complications relating to COVID-19.”

It is with heartbreaking sadness today that we can confirm the first pediatric fatality in Connecticut linked to #COVID19. A 6-week-old newborn from the Hartford area was brought unresponsive to a hospital late last week and could not be revived. (1/3)

I have a new grandchild who must have been born around the same date as this Cherub.

This was a real heart stopper for me.

That is heartbreaking. I have a friend in France whose baby was born in mid-December instead of early March. He weighed only 1 1/2 pounds. Amazingly, he did very well and was sent home after several weeks, when he weighed close to six pounds. The last I heard, though, is that the baby's doctors canceled his appointments when the coronavirus erupted. Charly, my friend, told me the doctörs told him they'd be on their own for quite awhile. I pray the baby will be all right.

Oh how sad. Prayers to all involved, they will never be the same.

This really rang a bell with me because of an article I read earlier today. This is what it said:

"A new dad lied about having COVID-19 symptoms to see his pregnant wife, health officials say. Now everyone in an upstate New York medical system is required to wear masks.

His wife was in the maternity ward at the time.

Officials at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester say the man finally admitted feeling ill when his wife started exhibiting symptoms shortly after giving birth".

I sure hope that this little newborn doesn't develop symptoms too. Ugh.

Anyone in the babies household have the virus? It's really crazy. The last time I was at the supermarket & BJ's there were many "babies" & a few infants.

I simply cannot imagine how this can be. There seems to be no "common sense" about anything in American life just now.

For those of you in this wonderful country who think you are in a "safer" state, please, PLEASE don't convince yourself into a false sense of security.
