Delivery Guy Spits on Package

Be careful handling delivered packages!

This is disgusting, horrifying and possibly criminal during the coronavirus pandemic -- an Amazon delivery guy was caught spitting on a package and appearing to use his hand to smear it, as well.

TMZ's obtained video of the vile incident, which we're told occurred Thursday evening at a duplex residence in L.A.'s Hancock Park neighborhood.

Take a look ... the delivery guy sets the package down on the porch, leans over and spits ... then catches some of the spit and appears to wipe it on the package as more saliva falls out of his mouth. He then stands up as if nothing gross just happened, and takes a photo to verify the delivery.

Our sources say Amazon was contacted by a neighbor and a friend of the person whose package was spit on, and a customer service rep watched the footage with them.

We're told the rep gasped in horror and expressed shock that it was an older man, and not a young delivery worker. The rep confirmed the delivery guy was from a third party service and he was reported -- but said it's possible he might be back on the job today, anyway.

A neighbor posted the delivery confirmation photo -- with a strong note to Amazon -- and the image clearly shows liquid smeared on top of the box. Amazon is supposed to get back to the aggrieved party by Monday.

When we reached out about the video an Amazon spokesperson said, “This is clearly not representative of drivers who deliver for Amazon and the care they take for customers around the world every day. We are aggressively investigating to understand what may have occurred in this situation. If it truly was a malicious act by the driver, we will be sure he is held accountable, up through and including law enforcement action.”

I put mine in the garage, all pkg and mail and use gloves. Spray cardboard pkg and leave there or in yard for 24 hours.

In DC a 35 year old woman stood and coughed and spit on the ENTIRE produce department while shouting she had the Corona virus at a grocery store. She was arrested and charged with about 7 different crimes including terrorism. She's being held on a $50K bond. The grocery store threw out $35K of products.

You are correct. In my neck of the wood, a customer intentionally coughed into the face of a supermarket cashier over a disagreement. Afterwards he said he had the coronavirus.

That night he was arrested & charged w/terroristic threats which is a FEDERAL crime.

Yes, @KingstonsMom it is a crime. I pick my packages up wearing rubber gloves - wipe them down with a Clorox cleaner, then into the garage they go for a couple of days. When I open them I wipe the item (as long as it is covered in a wrapper) with a wipe, immediately dispose of the box.

Bet the delivery guy will be looking for a job next week.

Wow! I would have never thought that in this fight against the virus, we now must include even more meticulous handling of our delivered packages, because of human biological weapons. Thank you for posting this! I receive packages almost daily, and will be much more mindful moving forward!

I just wear disposable gloves, use a knife to cut the box open, discard the box and gloves, then place the knife in the dishwasher to be sterilized.

You're probably right, if that moron had worked in any restaurant, he would probably spit in the food.
