I just read that he passed away today under hospice care - 81 years old. I didn't realize he had been out of the public eye since 2017. He was just always THERE in my life. What an amazing voice, and he and Dolly together were magic.

Because of the pandemic his family is having a small private service with a public memorial service planned for a later date.

He was one of a kind.

Just saw this on the early morning news. Made me so sad. Loved his voice.

Many years ago, I saw him and Dotty West in concert together. Their blended voices were magic. Much like he is with Dolly. Dotty died in 1991.

Seeing the singers of my youth passing away reminds me of my own age. Seems yesterday, we were all young!

Thank you for posting this. I did not know.

That is so sad and I know silly to say cause I know people die but it seems unreal. I have the cd, "Islands in the Stream" with him and Dolly-one of my favorites of all time!

I didn't know he was ill either.

Did anyone else really like his duet with Kim Carnes long ago? ("Don't Fall in Love with a Dreamer")? That one helped me through a breakup in my young days.

A beautiful voice, and great storyteller in songs.

He had the kind of voice that just blended well with others. Loved the duet with Lionel Ritchie singing “Lady”. You could tell they loved and respected each other. Some music is just so moving. I will miss him and thanks for all the hours of enjoyment. Sympathies to his family. RIP.

Heartfelt sadness. "Lady" was the song that brought my ex and me together...such wonderful memories. Our generation will always remember his beautiful, soothing voice and those lovely lyrics.

A great entertainer and boy could he play those strings. I have lots of his music, much of which I use during my workouts. RIP Kenny, you will be missed by many. Condolences to his family.

Loved his song "Lady". So reminiscent of falling in love in the 80's...sigh.
