Social Distancing

Are you practicing this?

I stopped at the grocery today and when I got on line to pay, I stood at least 6 feet behind the man in front of me. Along comes a woman and just gets in between the man and I. I said, "Excuse me, but I am behind him". She gave me a nasty glare and then moved behind me. I said, "I am just trying to do the right thing".

Another glare.

People can be so delightful, can't they?

Yep, same here... fortunately the check out clerk spoke up and the “pushy” person claimed she didn’t know. I say, she doesn’t care!

@QueenDanceALot That's very disconcerting, and I'm sorry that happened to you-- especially during this time.

She might not fully understand the facts relating to social distancing, or just not a good judge of the six feet standard. I am trying to stay home as much as possible for that very reason, and have become much more aware of "personal space".

I can't imagine not knowing about social distancing at this point. Some people really do live in self absorbed oblivious bubbles.

Stores should probably put signs up, even though they shouldn't have to.

I think the employees of stores have enough on their plates. Its personal responsibility. And yes, I would have said something to her.

When the stores are so crowded, it's impossible to stay distanced from anyone there. That's why one of our grocery stores is limiting the number of seniors to fifty people at time so they can keep their distance more easily. Most stores won't be able to do that unfortunately. But I am taking advantage of their 'senior hour' anyway.

I was at the weed store a couple of days ago and they did this interesting thing where they taped large squares onto the floor.

As you entered the building to show your ID at one of the windows there was a man advising you that it's 'one person per square'. Pretty much people were doing this. I was, of course, as I've always been one who appreciates personal space.

But when I got into the last line, waiting for a rep, this young man behind me kept stepping into my square. He was nice. We talked a little bit while in line, but I didn't feel like saying anything. It wasn't like he was up against me or anything, just inside my square.

The square thing reminded me of that Seinfeld episode (can you spare a square?).

At this time my workplace is still open. It is one of the Q's main shipping companies.

There are about 300 people at our facility.

While people should know by now, few are practicing SD at work. I am and have gotten some strange looks. I could care less.

I stepped into my manager's office on Monday and practically begged him to put actions in place to have employees not eating at the lunch tables together. The response was "I can ask."

Today, managers were on top of each other trying to get a high priority shimpment out.

Many people at work are over 60 and I'm scared for them and for me.

So many younger people in their 20’s and 30’s are now becoming critically ill from this virus. Everyone needs to be taking precautions, for their own safety as well as the safety of others. I tried to order groceries today so I could continue staying at home. No pickup times available. Then I tried for a delivery time. None available. Had to drive to the store, armed with my trusty Clorox wipes. It was very weird in the grocery store. Few people even though it’s a large chain store....everyone was avoiding eye contact and keeping quite a distance from one another. Very quiet. You could hear a pin drop. No music. Meat dept. closed and lights off. No coffee or paper products but am stocked up on tp and paper towels. Several people had bandanas ties around their faces like bandits. Not sure if that actually offers any protection, but it sure was creepy! Everyone was being very conscious of social distancing, etc...and then here comes a manager sneezing his head off at the front of the checkout lanes. Sheesh!

If you want to witness MAYHEM, take their cellphones and TV away.

The glare from the lady in line will be like little BO peep!

Rudeness has become a common behavior.

I notice problems when I’m out walking. You'd think the outdoors would be safe. People stop to chat and they’re too close. I had to remind someone today to stay 6 feet away. One thing I became more aware of is runners. Some of them are breathing heavily as they pass me on the trail, only a few feet away. One woman stopped running and let out a big gasp of air right by my face. From now on when I see any runners, I’m going off trail until they pass.

I was at the drug store to pick up meds today. There were only 5 people waiting, one at the register finishing her transaction, another young couple a good distance away from her, then me with my at least 6 feet from them. Then a middle aged man come into the line behind me, Right behind me. I kept inching up, hoping he would get the hint, but no, he moved forward everytime. I didn't want to get close to the couple in front of me, but I didn't want him right behind me.

Fortunately it was the couple's turn to move to the register and I moved way up in the waiting area. Nobody else there but me and this man. He did move up some, but I was able to move further along. Maybe he got the hint. I wanted to say something to him, but was afraid it would possibly cause a scene as you never now how people are going go react. Fortunately the timing was right as when the couple moved to the register, there is alot of space in the waiting area I was able to move up to.
