Daycare.......

What is becoming of children who are/were in day care which are now closed. Not all working parents have "family" and/or a backup system around who can help out. Also, not all can do the "work from home option."

Well, according to some people, the parents should have foreseen something like this could happen, and made plans for it, or they should have never have had the kids in the first place.

Unfortunately, many of those young germ magnets will be spending the day with their most vulnerable grandparents.

However, enterprising teens may think to offer daycare services for small groups of young kids, since the teens are out of school too.

In Texas, they have just provided guidance to restrict access, screening and cleaning. I think everyone is working hard to keep them open so that parents who have to work outside the home can work. Still very scary though - to have so many people in one place coming and going.

@on the bay I think its for workers who have "sick" family member(s) who have to stay home. And that is only for workers who work for companies w/under 500 employees.

#45 is now giving a press conference. He announced the above "MAY" be expanded to companies w/over 500 employees after a reporter asked what I did. Expanded how, what or when, who knows.

Nothing has been passed. The House of Reps passed a bill but the Senate has not acted on it.

I'm childless by choice, but my concern about parents with kids at this time is up near the top of the list of worries.

@liliblu#45 just announced for the 2nd time that they are still working on it to make a few changes. Some things will need to get expanded it appears. Both parties will have to come together to write out the changes.

Here in RI...schools closed....day care open.....but who knows if that might change...getting updates daily.....doesn't affect us....we're part of the senior population! oops....just heard day care centers have been closed...tomorrow governor will let us kbow if schools will be closed for more than one werk....watching the evening news now....news anchors are reporting from different areas of studio.......

Parents are doing what parents always do -- trying to make it work somehow.

A great deal of businesses and agencies have sent their employees home to telework. I am on mandatory 2-week (at least) telework) status. Some, who do not have portable jobs for telework, have to take vacation/leave time off. Others, who may already have compromised health, can get a note from their doctor to get extended leave or a quarantine status off. Some, are still scrambling to find licensed daycare, which is a huge problem now because almost all centers are full to the rim with the max number of children they can have.
