Don’t forget to wash those totes. There’s some concern that contaminated bags are spreading the virus at grocery stores.

It's been known for years that tote bags are not the healthiest way to carry grocereries.

Odd how they say this virus survives on plastic so are plastic bags also a problem? Anybody know?

Yes! I washed mine this past weekend. Those grocery counters are FILTHY. You would hope that they are sanitizing them but I doubt it.

I was at the store last week and waiting in the checkout line. A woman right behind me had a loud conversation with her at home child on the phone, then let out a loud sneeze without covering her mouth, then threw her dirty cloth bags on the belt right next to my things. I really wanted to knock her into the next zip code. I got outta there asap. Some people are just so unconscionable.

Our local grocery stores have announced via the local news that they are NOT allowing shoppers to bring their own bags.

NY state banned plastic bags at grocery stores. So now we're all bringing our reusable bags/totes. Maybe they should reconsider this move for a while. I was so careful sanitizing everything but never thought about the totes.

Might be good time to carry simple crossbody so placing on counters not necessary. I always cringe about floor placement but even counters and chairs questionable.

Around here, there are relatively small supermarkets every couple of blocks - so the three in my area are never crowded. I can't recall the last time I waited in a line.

The bigger Whole Foods and Trader Joe's occasionally have lines at the checkouts .... but not the others. But those lines move quickly.

Nowhere near the crowds you find in suburban areas .... but also not the variety of brands that you find there.

ETA: we are still gettng plastic bags - the stores can use them until their supply is gone. I have a few Trader Joe's totes that I can use - one of them is plastic.
