Glad to see this, which allows coordination and unleashing of various entities to help and reach the public. I've been impressed with Dr. Deborah Birx whenever she speaks, and never more than today with her various, very heartening announcements. She's a worthy medical partner to hard-working Dr. Anthony Fauci.

Yes, those two are great,but all the others from large companies, getting their attention this way ,does not set good with me.

Seema Verma, of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, just said that they will now have the power to override hampering regulations which have inhibited, or would inhibit, care for patients in this widespread medical challenge. That's very good, since Medicare patients and Medicaid patients comprise two very crucial groups vulnerable to Covid 19.

important that we have public and private partnership now - Google to develop a diagnostic clearing web site that can point people to testing sites if indicated (i need to study up on the details), Roche for test that can be mass produced, Walmart/Walgreen's making parking lots available for testing, Target/Walmart committing to keep necessities stocked and available in safe stores......etc, there are others who are joining in the effort. i like that we're all beginning to put an oar in the water.

I would love to see this thread, at least, stick with factual discussion, not descend into the demoralizing argumentativeness that has characterized some other threads. Finding out what things are newly allowed or unleashed under the new National Emergency status, would be a great focus and one that could help people looking for answers.

Disagreement, fine, but ad hominem attacks --- there's so much of that elsewhere, couldn't we keep it there?

What we really need - and already have for the vast majority of cases - is treatment.

If we just had a treatment that would arrest the virus in the elderly compromised before it could cause life threatening issues, that would stop the whole thing.

I'd rather see folks working on that than on testing.

You test those presenting with symptoms - particularly the elderly. You don't set up drive through testing centers and convince the entire population they need to be tested.

Agreed that's reasonable. Do you know if people need a referral to do the drive-through testing? I would assume that would be the case. The drive-through is to protect workers as well as other people.

University of Washington Medical developed their own test, got it approved, and is already setting up drive through testing as of last week. Other Universities elsewhere have done the same thing. The public sector has really tried to help when there were no tests to be had from the CDC.

I don't know. I saw a post on FB touting what S. Korea was doing and the article said that no you didn't need a referral and everyone was being encouraged to be tested. The poster thought we should be doing that here.
