Let me throw this hypothesis out there.

Say local, state, or federal made a statement where they wanted to test every person in the county, state, country.

Whether it was voluntary or mandatory, would you comply?

Yes, but I don't think it's feasible. I mean, there are 87,000 people in my town alone.

If it was mandatory I would. If it was voluntary it would depend on the circumstances. At this moment I don't feel anxious about the situation so if there was voluntary testing now I wouldn't be going someplace to be tested.

Yes, of course. But I dont see the point if you have no symptoms. So your tested on a Monday..no symptoms..feel fine...then what? You could still be exposed at anytime.

Some of those who have tested positive have not had symptoms and you are contagious even before you have any symptoms.

if you're coming back from outside the USA maybe it should be mandatory till the threat is abated but if you never travel anywhere it should be voluntary unless there is a known infection where you live

That's not how it works. It's not like DNA testing, where you have one result forever.

All the test says is whether or not I've developed antibodies. I could be exposed and test negative immediately, then test positive later. That's what happened to the person the CDC released in San Antonio. Two positive tests, they let her go and then found her final test was a low positive. They had to bring her back.

Get tested if you think you're sick or have reason to believe you have the virus.

Yes, but others can test negative because they haven't had the virus long enough to produce enough antibodies to test positive, so they think they're clear and they're not. That's already happened here in Texas.

Are you going to quarantine EVERYONE who tests negative to see if they test positive later?

Probably not. They might get a false result & quarantine me. Maybe if they have a test that works like it should.

They only have 75,000 test kits so won't happen.

Is there a major outbreak in my area?

Will they come to my house and adminster the test?

Who will pay for the test? (There are some reports of patients receiving huge bills for testing, including those brought back from China during the airlift.).

Bottomline, probably not unless I felt I was in a high risk area and exhibiting symptoms.

They have said the key difference between the coronavirus and the flu is the high fever than is the first symptom with coronavirus in most cases...103,105, etc....I know if I had a temp that high, I would immediately call my dr and they would tell me whether to come into the office, go to the ee, or stay at home.
