My brand new, $500.00, Dyson V11 has stopped working!

I can't believe it! Last night, I was vacuuming my carpet, and my Dyson stopped working! Now, to better understand my position, this is my 2nd one. I had ordered it, as a TSV, the end of last Oct, 2019, and loved it, until it stopped working! OK... no problem, I'll just exchange it. Now, I have the 2nd one, and it stopped working, the same exact way the first one did! How is this possible? I called QVC, and said, "I can't be the only person this is hapenning to". I was told they had no reports of anyone else having this problem. I will be sending this back today for a full refund. It's sad because this is the best and most powerful stick vac I have ever used, and I really loved it!

We consumers need to unite about these shoddy products. I keep bringing this issue up on the forum. I'm sorry about your Dyson. Get your money back.

Sometimes if it's a choice between a $99 vacuum and a $500 one you have better luck with the $99 dollar one. Not just vacuums but various appliances and electronics and other "stuff".

I purchased a Dyson several years ago luckily the thing still works, but the problem I have is the weight of the vacuum which is 16 pounds wears me out trying to push the thing. In my opinion Dyson is way overrated. Honestly I don't think it works any better than other vaccums I've owned that cost way less.

I just googled this model's reviews and it recived 4.8 stars out of 5. The vacuum had well over a thousand reviews. Maybe the Q bought seconds?

Whenever I read stories like this pertaining to expensive appliances, I always question whether this merchandise is really first quality.

When hosts say QVC bought out a large supply of an item, I instantly think of other well known discount stores who do buyouts, and wonder about the quality of stuff bought here.

Because of those feelings, I limit the type of things bought from QVC.

Good news! I just got off the phone with Dyson. They couldn't be nicer. They registered my 2 year warranty, starting today, and are sending me a new Torque Drive power brush head. I accepted his offer, as I reallly love this Dyson. So, I'll be keeping it, and hope this doesn't happen again.

I hope you get all fixed up! I quit buying Dyson after Consumer Reports reported quality problems. I just looked it up again, and this is what they said back in March 2019:

"Consumer Reports is removing all Dyson models from its list of recommended stick vacuums because consumers can’t count on them to last. Survey data we posted recently reveals that Dyson stick vacuums develop problems or break at a higher rate than those of any other brand in our tests".

I had never seen CR do that before, and decided not to chance it.

Two with problems just since October??? No replacement head for me, thanks. Full refund and I'm moving on. Give me a $100 Hoover Wind Tunnel.

I agree like Kitchen Aid stuff nowdays. I'd rather have Oster from Walmart

My Shark Rotator works for a few minutes and then shuts off. Bought at Amazon--$260. Shark replaced the wand, brush etc helped for a use or two. Called again,told this is the vacuum overheating. Ridiculous,

my apt is about 1000 sq feet. I was told this isn't happening to anyone else ( b.s.).

Obviously there is a short somewhere. Glad I still have my $99 Hover. Getting ready to trash the Shark.

No more Dyson for me. Mine stopped working about two years after I bought it and only used it for stairs....and I paid a lot of money for it. I should not have fallen for the hype, but really liked it being cordless...I have lots of carpeted stairs and it was a godsend....

I always listen for “exclusive to QVC” when it is a famous brand...it can mean seconds or a lesser-quality version of a product.

i own three dyson vacuums.....one upright that is about 14 years old, one stick vacuum that is about five years old, and one stick vacuum that is a few months old.

recently had a problem with my older stick vacuum. took it into a dyson service center and they had it repaired while i waited for it. that is some great customer service. i had never registered it either and they did that while i was there. no charge for anything.

i am a dyson fan and have had good luck with their products.

Biggest rip-off ever made. I've had three, all were nothing but problems. Heavy, clunky and kept breaking down. I wound up giving them away when we moved.

I would never own any Dyson product again.

@sunshine45 I've owned several since they first came out and never had any problems either. Mine get a lot of wear and tear due to having large pets. Their customer service is wonderful.

I have a small family owned vac store in my neighborhood, been in biz over 40 years. The owner hates Dyson, told me he makes a fortune on people bringing them in for repairs or to ask him to take it in trade for something else, He showed me has many for sale that he refurbished. He is a firm believer still in vacs with a bag, and that is what I bought from him, Sanitaire upright, I love it!! He also has no faith in Oreck.

I think Dyson is overpriced and over-rated.... Good Luck @Tangocash with your new brush head!

And another point was I found the vendor rep a bit disingenuous.....she was bragging that the run time on the cordless was an hour....but she failed to mention that was on the low setting and Consumer Reports pointed out with their testing on the HIGH setting the run time was between 10 minutes to 30 minutes depending on the surface---the vacuum didnt do well with some carpets that got a lot of traffic ....Good job by CR !!!!
