What kind of a camper are you?

Watching a video on The Great Smokey Mtns. and the hikers and where they sleep for the night. Even in my good days, I couldn't hike the way these guys are. I love to see this area.

The video before this showed the water height at Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. I stayed at one of the places mentioned. It was a wonderful bubbling brook beside it and now it's a raging river. Water is up over the roads and covering many things in it's path. If you enjoy that area, you might want to look on You Tube. It's amazing. Love that area.

We use to camp in our younger days, went from tent all the way up to a 5th wheel and then that ended. Got to be too much work. So anyway, we enjoyed it.

I haven't camped since I was about 13 or 14 or so, but my parents and I have camped in tents and in a camper.

I kinda miss camping, but I think that if I were to go camping now, I'd want to stay in a cabin or a small camper, like a Winniebaggo.

We had a pop-up camper when the kids were little. Then graduated into a trailer. We had such fun times camping. In fact, that's how we found our property on our favorite lake here in beautiful upper Michigan, where we built a house and now live! When we all get together, my kids always talk about their fun camping days.

I only camped once and it was in a tent in the middle of no where. I did not like it at all! I don't like snakes, bugs, etc! No bathroom. Where we were, there was also the worry of large predators, such as bears! I was terrified the whole time. I know some people who say they are "camping" and they have or rent a beautiful cottage complete with electric and heat. Is this real camping? Don't know. But, it would be more to my liking!

Must have running water, bathroom and electricity so need a fully tricked out camper or cabin.

I agree @gidgetgh , but really prefer renting a condo. If a hotel room, it must have a balcony.

Not a camper. 4-5 star hotel only. My idea of roughing it is a day at the spa.😂

Not a camper. Those campsites are so close together that even if you have an RV, you can hear everything. Plus everyone stays up way past my bedtime.

@AuntG Depends....we enjoy the wild and the sound of the water....you have to be selective. We were also selective about our RV so we can take advantage of the wilderness. No noisy campsites for us!

A hotel is my kind of camping.

I haven't camped since I was in Girl Scouts decades ago. I would probably enjoy it now.

My idea of camping is Motel 6. I want a bathroom with toilet paper, a shower with hot water and a warm bed. I don't like camping with the bugs, it's either to hot or to cold etc. oh yea, I want real food too.

The kind that likes a Holiday Inn! Use to go camping with dh and my sons when they were young. Also when they were Boy Scouts. I hated it! Once at boy scout camp in upstate NY, I slept in the car. One time at Walt Disney World, dh wanted to camp so we stayed at Fort Wilderness in one of the resort campers with maid service! That was "roughing it" enough for me! I can't live without air conditioning!🤣

Camping isn't for me. There are little motels in wooded lake areas, same as campgrounds...,and I can enjoy a bed and private bathroom!

Last time I camped in a tent I was in my 30s...it rained all night. In the morning I was so stiff from sleeping in a sleeping bag....ugh!

I know some people love it....enjoy! The best part is sitting around the campfire at night!!

Have not camped now in quite sometime.

Oh but boy did we camp! Good times!

We were tent campers.

Some times, depending on where we were going,

we would get a screened in shelter or a small sleeping cabin.

My husband and I have also slept many nights in the bed of a truck

with an air mattress on a perfectly clear night with a bijillion stars out.

Both of our kids grew up camping.

At parks with a lake, parks without a lake, the beach, a river... so much fun!

My son, still camps quite often.

Wilderness camper in a tent.We used to go by boat to a spot we carved out in the bush.Washed clothes in the lake and cooked on the campfire.One night I told my dh that I heard rustling in the tent.He told me it was just the wind and be quiet and go back to sleep...so I did.Awhile later I heard him yell something ran over my face..i said,Just the wind now be quiet and go back to sleep....but he didn’t.We turned on the flashlight opened the tent and two mice ran out.Lol.

Lots of wonderful areas for backpacking out here in the west. Had to shorten the trips when the kids were too little to carry much, but were only limited by lack of food. Adults could go more days.

After being away for a couple of weeks, it was shocking to come back to the noise. The tires made so much noise when we reached pavement. Beds were odd too. Flush toilets almost broke our eardrums!
