topic Pharmaceutical Ads Question in Community Chat

I've been pondering.....why do they have to state, and repeat (at least a couple of times during the ads), the long "scientific" (sorry, can't think of the correct term) name of the medication. Anyone know? Is it a legal requirement? (Just saw it on a Botox ad, but I've seen it on several others.) Has it always been that way and I'm just now noticing?
